PR has nothing to do with keywords, it is passed through links. Backlinks are links to your site from other people's sites.

first of all... Page rank has nuthin to do with Keywords... Pagerank is solely dependent on the pagerank of the Incoming links that you manage to generate. and secondly, backlinks = Incoming links (get other websites to link you back)
Yeah, PR mainly depends on backlinks and to get more backlinks join forums and place you website link in the signature, submit to search engine directories as most of them are free, also join article submission directories and finally try to gain links from related websites. All these tips will help you in getting high quality backlinks which in turn will improve your website page rank.
