Hi all.... just was wondering how this site http://ringtoneoffers.atspace.com has a alexa traffic rank of 2,487 just does not make sense. Thanks all..
Sites can have high alexa ranks with no PRs. I used to own a hosting company that had an alexa rank of 40,000 but a PR of 0.
You don't need backlinks to get traffic. Perhaps this site is marketing offline (TV ads, print ads, radio ads, etc.).
Im pretty sure the rank is for: atspace.com and that alexa doesnt count subdomains and just the top level domain.
Yeah, I marketed my hosting company entirely through eBay. Every hosting customer I had got came through eBay and probably 95% of traffic came through eBay. You can piggy back on other sites like that sometimes and really work it to your advantage.
You guys have some wonderful theories but you're all wrong. It's because they are thousands of subdomains hosted on atspace, you're seeing the Alexa of the whole domain. # brumaximus.atspace.com - 4% # tvonline.atspace.com - 4% # cp2.atspace.com - 3% # hkgirl.atspace.com - 3% # kidhi.atspace.com - 3% # lido.atspace.com - 3% # popstyle.atspace.com - 2% # princesinha5.atspace.com - 2% I really love how some of you take every shot in the dark that you can to blame Alexa of being easily manipulated when the facts are starring you in the face.
Yes. Alexa is always for the main domain. Subdomains dont have a separate Alexa Rank. An example is this site for Dublin The links directory, ireland subdomain and other subdomains, all share the same Alexa Rank.
Alexa records traffic based on people who have the alexa toolbar installed. The more alexa users view a page, the higher the rank. This can cause some discrepancies, because it's a rather small cross-section of internet users. It takes a load of traffic to hit that rank though, so I would expect it's fairly accurate. My site, which floats in the ~40k rank range, their stats are way off.
The Alexa ranking can easily be circumvented if you know what you are doing, then again an Alexa ranking is only good if you intend to sell the site and need to impress the potential buyer
Simple really...Loads and loads of One way back links The SEO this guy must have done on his website(assuming its a he) is massive!
On my Alexa bar it comes up 19,249, though that's still pretty good for what appears to be a single page of ads. As people have said, though, it's for the .atspace domain. Edit: I didn't notice how old this thread is! Apparently that domain has been slipping.
