I had this domain name appraised a bit ago, and they tell me it's worth $26,600. Another thread in here says that it's not worth that much, but the amount quoted hints at something good. Also, without any traffic information, I have had a few people tell me it's worth in the low $XXXX.

Here is a bit of information on the domain, so tell me how much you think it's worth.

    AsteriskBlog.com

Asterisk is an Open Source PBX system that is taking the phone world by storm these days. It is a highly specialized technology niche.

The domain is a PR4 and gets approximately 180 unique hits a day. In google, if you search for "Asterisk Blog" it is the first in the list. It is also on the front page for many Asterisk related keywords.

The appraisal says that I have 2,791 incoming links. My Alexa rank is 546,535.

Any other information needed can be provided. I'm just looking for a general idea of what this could sell for. Thanks guys!

Wordtracker and overture. They measure the number of searches for your keywords. Get out the tool at: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/

As pointed out, "Asterisk Blog" is a keyword that no one searches for so being #1 has no value at this time.

There are a number of way to value a site, but for this type of site the highest value is going to come from how much net revenue it generates a month? A ballpark is going to be anywhere from 8 - 15 times the net monthly revenue assuming it isn't a labor intensive site to maintain. The length of time and consistency of revenue will factor in.

You said "hits" - do you mean unique visitors or hits? They are two very different things.

A site is really worth what someone is willing to pay - but online appraisals are generally worthless and tend to be on the high side to absurdly high. Using your net revenue is going to give you a much better valuation if you are looking for a realistic figure.

    I meant unique hits.

As far as "Asterisk Blog" not being searched for, my stats say otherwise. I get about 40 hits a day from people googling that. As I said in the first post, it's a very specialized niche, so it's not that mainstream.

As far as the revenue goes, I just redid the adsense ads on it yesterday, and it upped my clickthrough rate quite a bit. So we will see if that percentage stays up or if it's just because it's a new position. Either way, I think I can get more money than I could have before.

My valuation was for the domain only. Please read up on wt/ ovt to fully understand what it means.

Hits are a pretty useless number because it could mean only one person. Check your stats for unique visitors and that will tell you how many people are actually visiting your site. I think you must be ranking for other keywords that are bringing you traffic since the ovt is zero.

Ok, Unique visitors. Yes, the number initially given is for that.

I have a number of terms that I rank well for in the Asterisk community. Most of them are very commonly searched for which gets me quite a bit of traffic.
