I have had my blog for about two months running. What should my first steps be to start driving traffic to it. I have already implemented posting on fb and twittter about each new post to my friend lists.
Hello my friend, Find out where your tribe hang out... Look for them like a hunter and go and socialise. Think about it like that... If you can find where they are in large amounts and then contact them in some way you can build quality traffic... Best places to look are youtube, yahoo answers, forums, blogs in the same niche... Thats is how I think when I am driving traffic.. where are they and how can i talk to them... good luck
My blog is almost two months running, so I will give you some tips. Similar to what the above poster said, find out where where everyone in your niche hangs out, for internet marketing/making money online its warrior forum and digitalpoint (with others on the side.)(i only use digitalpoint). Go their build a reputation post actively. These days many forums have signature options which you can put a link in your signature. This is still what I do to drag traffic to my site and is a great way.
Search blogs on a similar niche and become a frequent, insightful commentator. You'll be able to build an image for yourself and why not even a few contacts in the blogosphere. Try some linkbait posts from time to time. Stuff that goes well with social bookmarking sites (Reddit, StumbleUpon) and of course submit them on the appropriate channels. Stay on top of current events. if you write a piece on a timely manner, you could benefit from an SEO boost for newly popular keywords. Focus on keeping your readership entertained. It's easier to get repeat visitors, rather than brand new ones.
hi bladysh, 1. do ping, use : pingler.com pingomatic.com 2. do forum posting with signature 3. do post on do-follow blog.. that must increase your traffic.. good luck..
Quality, addictive content (makes readers want to comeback), links from relevant, authority sites, and social signals (Facebook, Twitter, +, etc.)
Some tips to get traffic: 1.Optimize your site for search engines. 2.Post links on social networks. 3.Submit to directories. 4.Classifieds. 5.Forums signatures. 6.Traffic exchanges(low quality traffic). 7.Link exchange with other sites.
Here's something that hasn't been mentioned. Why not take some of your articles and turn them into short reports and post them to document sharing sites like docstoc.com or scribd.com? The traffic is not a lot but you may get an extra few hundred views if you put up enough docs. Also why not try some article marketing at ezinearticles.com The theme here is re-purposing. By that I mean taking content you already have and multiplying it across many different formats. Just one article can become: 1) Blog post 2) PDF 3) Power Point Presentation 4) Video I hope you get this idea. It can be very powerful when done correctly.
Besides what has been mentioned, I ping my blog after each post. I mainly use pingoat.com I also use social monkee to submit to social bookmarking sites
Look and connect with your community: blogs, forum sites. You may also utilize Reddit and StumbleUpon. But first things first, build your site with valuable content (this is the number one). Then make sure that you do your ETHICAL SEO homework.
Glad to hear you're taking the first steps towards driving traffic to your website. Since you've already set up Facebook and Twitter, the next logical move would be to try and gather as a following on both websites that includes as many pertinent people as you can. Keep in mind that with this method of marketing, you sohuld be working to prove that your website is trustworthy above all else.
The next steps is to first continue what you are doing with social media, that is a great way to drive traffic, make sure you are also social bookmarking everything you do as it be articles, posts, pages, everything. I would stick to 1 or 2 marketing strategies so you don't get overwhelmed with to much work. If you have a bit of money look into some PPC advertising it is the easiest platform to get started with paid advertising there are other paid methods, but I think PPC is the easiest to get started with and you can control your budget. The 2nd form of marketing I would do if you have no money and since you are already making a social impact go into article marking. Find good strong article directories as well as e-zines in your specific niche to submit articles to and start building trust for your website. Cheers -- Will Skinner
Find related blogs and forums in google and start providing valuable feedback reply. Put a link to your website in your signature.
Also create Linkreferral campaign for your website/pages to promote your website and to receive some traffic everyday. No just the traffic but also you receive reviews on your website by other webmasters and users.
