Hey folks It looks like I'm about to come out of retirement and get back into the SEO game after a 4 year sabbatical! I was just hoping for a heads up on what's changed generally, and what I might be letting myself info. Of course - I'm going into a ridiculously competitive sector. From reasonably straight forward and easy label manufacturing into, wait for it - poker! Eeek! To be fair, I was pretty damn good in 2008. However - things change. Question is, what!? Thanks guys, and it's good to be back in this forum Martin P.S - upon looking at the SEO forum for the first time in all these years, I see people obsessing about PageRank. Nothing changes then! And people never learn!
Welcome back Martin in SEO. But now the SEO is not easy as it is in 2008. Google has changed many rules for sites. It mention in Google Panda updates. According to Google Panda good bye to low quality links and content so beware when You are start seo.
I wasn't around in 2008, but the focus has definitely changed to social signals + unique content. Quality is king now-a-days....and 'spammy' techniques that were said to work a few years back are no longer as powerful as they once were.
Welcome back to the SEO game. The rules have changed quite a bit, you may want to look at the Google Panda updates and Search Plus Your World. Other then that quality, unique content, link building is still important and implementing social media like G+ has become important.
yep, some things never change. people are still obsessed about pagerank and people are still doing links exchange even tho google started penalizing sites for having partner pages. welcome back btw
