I realize that there is banner blindness today, but I used to put up banners and make a lot of money! It has literally fallen off the table! Can somebody explain why the public doesn't click on banners and buy products any more?
Word is the ads that stick out and look like obvious ads are the ones that don't get clicked.. YOu have to blend the ads in with your site now.. I'm testing some stuff out but I may soon have to switch up a bunch of my ads... Also, use arrows..
There are many factors that can change the CTR and conversion ratio when you're using banner advertising. There's certainly a fair amount of banner blindness. Additionally some browser plugins, software and antivirus make banners invisible. Yet, if banners are of a theme that is very similar to the content, you can boost CTR, leads and sales. Have you tried Google AdSense?
Try to change the banners. Make new custom banners, or better yet, try a different advertiser. It could be that the web is saturated with the same stuff and nobody cares anymore. I remember I made a living (almost) on screensavers.com and then just like that I couldn't make a buck off of them.
I'd be happy to take a look at your site and banner placement and make suggestions. You can PM me or email me directly (jessicab at maxbounty dot com) or IM me on Skype or AIM (maxbountyjess). Thanks!
Media buys (banners, display traffic i.e.) still works for me and even more profitable than adwords for example
I, personally still click banners. The reason for the fail banner ads might be because of different factors like wrong niche, wrong ad placement etc. You can test different ad placements in your site. There is no harm in doing so, what works with others will not always work with you. Rain
I must say I hardly ever click on a banner and find those that flash or shake about quite annoying and a general distraction rather than an attraction. Saying that I did find a rather smart banner creator for a mere $10 which I will give a whizz
That's true and that's why I always suggest to have something like that for the banners: <a href="http://yourcjlink.com" target="blank"> <img src="http://yourdomain.com/images/banner_1.gif" border="0"> Hope it will help someone.
