I have encountered people advertising about the backlink generation promising more than 20,000 backlinks in an instant for a price.

I have never used this scheme and will never will be but I'm interested to know what the impact of this backlinking strategy to your website would be.

Any input would surely be appreciated.

    Thanks guys.

Your site might get penalized due to abnormal link activities

It is not good to build so many links at one time ,which will make your website worse .

I hate to ask a really noob question but is there an acceptable range of backlink generation that we could consider "normal link activity?"

I once have witnessed an article published by a relatively new website that became viral that large news firm such as nytimes, latimes cited it as a source. It was ranked pr4 in 3 months; only the post, not the whole website because it remained PR0 after then. So, basically, such article was linked by hundreds, if not thousands of high pr sites in a very short period of time as it received more than 4 million views in just 3 days.

So, basically such kind of articles may have received considerably abnormal link activities yet Google didn't penalize it.

20,000 links in a day, more than 50 % of links will be on pages that never crawled, i have seen a report for this type of links .... and google will not crawl all the links at once (not sure) ..... we cant say we will get always penalized if we go for such service ... but risk is there

I don't think you will banned for acquiring so many backlinks in a short period. If that was the case many popular sites will be banned or competitors will send 10,000 backlinks to their rivals. You will get banned if Google find out that you purchased backlinks. Also a website that is getting 10 visitors a day and is getting 10,000 backlinks a month, then theirs a problem. Be careful, you website might get sandbox or you might experience a google dance.

If you've ever read the "SEO CookBook" launched as WSO quite a while ago, it mainly teaches us to buy links in bulk.
the guy has no fear that his website will get deindexed or sandboxed because he knows big g will needs a considerable amount of time to crawl and notice such links.
that said, even if you bought 20.000 and the seller can deliver it overnight it won't harm you even just a little because most of those links are typical forum profiles and blog comments which takes quite a while to be crawled, maybe will be left uncrawled forever if you don't use indexing service like linklicious or lindexed.

I myself never had bad experience buying such links in bulk. but I always make sure that the seller will submit the result links to either linklicious or lindexed or any indexing service

Chances are, these are really low quality links. Save these types of links for your tiers. In other words, only use them on the better backlinks that point to your site. (Articles, 2.0's, etc.) Don't point them directly at your main site.

That said, a lot of people panic about the thought of getting a ton of backlinks at once. If it's legitimate, there's nothing to worry about. It's not like Google is penalizing every site that happens to go viral. The SE's can tell between natural "viral" links and a ton of junk links. But even then, it may take them a long time to find these types of links so it may not even matter.

More information required - how old is your site and what's your current backlink structure like? 20,000 links overnight really depends on how quickly those links will be crawled. If they're created all at once but it takes 3-4 weeks for the majority to get indexed, then it's much lower risk.

Don't buy into the scare stories of get penalized for excess links- if that were true we could simply generate 10's of thousands of backlinks to our competitors websites and ensure they got de-indexed.
