How to do local SEO????

    Today I would like to know how this local SEO is normally done. In my mind I think that local SEO is same as normal SEO, but I just need to add a city or website name that I want to target.

    For example.
    If I am focusing on a niche of SEO's and I want to target people in new york I will target a keyword like this "SEO in New York" and just do simple SEO.

    Is that a right way to do it??? or for local SEO we have to do something different. ????

    please reply and post some helpful tip along with free Ebook resource if you can.

    You are correct in some extent. 1st of all, you have to concentrate your onpage optimization like: Local Keyword research [keywords targeting should be extended with the local specification (like a keyword + city or Region)], H1-H2 tag optimization, Meta tag optimization etc. Then you can do these following steps for promoting your site locally:

    1) Create a Google map profile
    2) Create a local.yahoo.com profile
    3) Create a Yelp.com profile
    4) Create ads in Craig List or any free local classified sites
    5) Local Directories submission
    6) Target for Local blogs and comment there
    7) Facebook groups - local facebook groups can be a good way for promoting your business but those groups should be relevant.
    8) Product Review writing
    9) Local Article Directories - you can submit your articles in the local article sites.
    10) Yahoo Local listing / Bing local listing / if there any local search engine available then, local search engine submission etc.

    I think these tips can be helpful for your queries.

    You can local SEO by targeting some local targetting keywords i.e. for example: keyword<along with>location/area

    First investigate the keywords for your country (related to your website!), then try to build some backlinks using these backlinks and try to rank higher for them :)

    There are many ways to target locally and you don't need to do any SEO except if you provide value on these sites by adding unique descriptions, blogging, answers, etc.

    Create a Google map profile
    Creat a local.yahoo.com profile
    Create a Yelp.com profile
    If you are an ecommerce owner, create a merchantcircle profile
    Create ads in Craig List or any free local classified sites
    etc

    Local SEO is nothing but optimizing your web pages, targeting or focusing on particular area which is known as Geo Traffic. Generally when we do SEO it considered as visitors from global or any other particular. Same strategy can be used for Geo Target also.
