Cingular problems today

    Hey guys,

    Lots of you are running ringtone campaigns, so I thought I'd share this here. I sent the following note to all our affiliate managers today:

    Hey guys,

    I just got off the phone with Cingular directly. They are currently experiencing a major outage which is preventing users from being able to send and/or receive SMS messages. This means that all of our ringtone partners are being affected too. They advised me that they're working on the problem and hope to have it fixed soon. There is no "other ringtone provider" that cingular traffic can be "redirected" to, as all are being affected. If your affiliates notify you of lower conversions today, this is why.

    The problem seems to have resolved itself about 1.5 hours ago, so we're all good again.
