Hello, I have a forum with more than 45 MB of files which includes, forum codes , photo album with photo uploaded by members and a arcade zone integrated with lots of games. The database size is 18 MB. Now i want to move this whole site setup to a new domain and hosting. Can any one advice me how can i do this without loosing the SEO which i did to this site and without loosing any visitors. regards aditya
You can make a complete backup of the website i.e Generate/Download a Full Backup from the Cpanel > Backup. Then upload it to the new server and Restore from the Backup. Also make a backup of the files from ftp (just in case).
yes that is good ans, take backup in old server and in new server say restore and upload backup files.U have to take backup of DB also.
Well thats okay i know that ... but what about the SEO...will i loose all link building etc..which i did... and the traffic which i get from the SEs.what about that
Dont forget to permanent redirect because iam sure thats the thing you are talking about in the first post . Though this has to be done carefully and i will explain you how to retain the backlinks too Amit
http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/moving-to-a-new-web-host/ thats the best official answer u can find. Sorry had some work so cudnt reply to that before...
hehe ... u must read the first paragraph...that article tells how to move to a different host...thats not the problem.... i am changing domain name also here....
I recently moved 4 of my sites from one host to another with out any fuss. What helped me here was, the new host was providing a free transfer of files, if I can provide them with the login details of cpanel. Both were using cpanel. After the transfer, i just got to change some file permissions here and there. that's it.
