Depend how niche your market is .
Since is web design services, i believe it better go for both. Focus more on Online and take part maybe twice a year on offline marketing.

Online marketing is better than offline marketing. If you want to use both of them, no problem.

With the business you are trying to promote online marketing is your best bet. You can create a huge audience at less cost than offline marketing. The profit margins are a lot lower online than off. Another bit I will throw in their is that the amount of trust and authoritativeness you can build online is much bigger than offline. I would wait till you start making a profit online and then experiment offline.

    Hope this was useful

Both online and off-line I would say. There are many brick-and-mortar firms that require websites but have absolutely no presence online. The only way to contact them is to do off-line marketing. In the past, I created websites for a few real estate agencies. I contacted them on mobile and inquired.

Off-line marketing is mostly to word of mouth. There are several advertising revenues such as classified ads in newspapers but these can be costly. For example, a small classified ad in 'The Hindu' costs about Rs.300.

Try to make your services look very professional. Have a dedicated office and a landline phone. Also print brochures and business cards.

    Mix them.

Online marketing for those who active looking for you.

Offline marketing for those that aren't looking for you.

A great idea is to send local business a letter, trying to sell. Google mail marketing, and see how to do this. (I dont know if there is some local rules about spam and mail marketing, in you country, so please investigate this by you self.)

Since your business is into web design, online marketing is preferable. However, offline marketing can complement your strategy. Combination of both, if integrated, can be an effective way of marketing.

It depends on the situation/budget/marketing plans. If you're really good at offline marketing and have some force to get into offline market then you can go with offline marketing. Otherwise online marketing would be better (and cheaper while comparing to the offline marketing).

Here in Tampa, there was someone that went advertising crazy for the same thing with bandit signs at intersections. They did this for a while so I'm guessing they were successful with it but I think it eventually ran it's course because I don't see them as much as I use to; if at all.

People are always looking to get websites made.. I just built one last week...

I say try it and see what happens... You'll never know if you don't try...

    Good luck

You can do both types of marketing. But now a days, online marketing is popular, though it becomes almost spamming. So be careful to write your contents in unique and attractive format. Try to highlight your services.

For offline, you may use leaflets, visiting cards and offer special prices.
