Google Hits me with duplicate content penalty... (Just 1 duplicate post!!)

I started a blog 2 weeks back and made around 10 posts so far. 2 days back it hit a all time high of 179 visits through search engines alone. I added one article from ezine (with source link) and boooooom! today morning the traffic from search is almost 0. I could not find my pages even in the 5th page of search engine results...

I have removed that post. Let me see if google forgives me

I doubt it is for duplicate content. Since you just started the blog it is probably google just positioning you whre you are supposed ot be since it is a new site. I could be wrong if the domain is not new.

Duplicate content penalties don't apply to having other peoples content on your website. The only thing that should've happened is that you'd rank lower than the actual article. It is most likely something else that caused the drop.

i think it was just coincidence. new sites often get some juice in the SERPs then they drop off.

Yeah you'll be fine. The first month will be all around the place, just keep it clean, stick by the rules and you wont have anything to worry about.

Make note - fresh content is thumb rule for blog to be in SERP and links for that :)

    There might be other causes..
Try to run broken link checker, virus malware checker on the Internet and also ask Google in forum about this.

All the best for your site =)
