The classical method is to put info:domainname.com where domainname.com is your actual domain into Google search. If you see the same domain in a result than PR is genuine. There're also multiple PageRank checkers on the net with fake PR detection, just use Google to find them.
If you buy a domain and change the content, it will be considered as dropped. It's as bad as fake PR.
none of the pagerank checkers online actually work - I have checked them all - they all simply take the data from the google toolbar - which in the case of fake pr (which is done by the redirect trick) still shows the wrong PR as it shows the pr of the site it used to be directed to, If you are buying domains then it is ULTRA important to check this, theres some free online tool in my signature link that will give info for links/authority/tweets/facebook likes etc Upon checking domains here I have noticed that around 60% have fake PR - and the same with links people sell using PR as the main selling point
honestly dont know where should go to check Fake PR, but have a bunch of sites to check Real one. PR dot Chinaz dot com is my personal favourite.

Check the content of the page and check the PR in different tool besides Google page rank checker tool.
Be wary of so called 'PR checkers' next to none of them are accurate as they just use information from google toolbars which are subject to the fake Pageranks rendering these tools or checkers rather useless.
Hello there, May i know what does page rank do? If you have a good PR? does it mean your site will come on the top of a search? Thank you
Yes you right...this is the only way to check a fake PR site.... most domains these days are all redirected
There are so many sites help you to identify fake PR. But best thing is check the site in Google - site:domain.com. You can see the actual PR here...
