Friends, let me know the best link building strategy after the recent update of Google Panda version 3.3. In this update Google mentioned that, they are going to evaluate the quality & quantity of back-links. So building links for a software company from SEO forums will spoil my reputation?
Most of the blog networks have gotten hit by the panda update and google has started de-indexing the blogs.. However there are some blog networks that never went public and were very careful in not leaving any footprints and also about the quality of content, those networks are still doing well. Other than that bookmarking is still working like a gem and also press releases!
Google were careful not to say in how they were changing the way they evaluate links, only that they were "turning off a method of link analysis that we used for several years." I think it is too early to jump to any meaningful conclusions as to what that method may be, and there is certainly nothing in the update to suggest that commenting on forums has suddenly become something that could harm anyone's reputation.
The Panda and Penguin updates have caused a stir with linkbuilding. There is an interesting article about page rank and how Google Plus plays an important role. Those of you that use Social Media (web 2.0) techniques may find it interesting. I can't post links, but you should find it by searching "Confirmed: Google+ Is Critical to Your Search Rankings" Also LinkFool has a good write up the Panda update. I believe that if you use a variety of methods, articles, blogs, forums, Web 2.0, etc. that it will appear more natural. Also, backlinking on relevant sites with quality content is a must. Random links placed on any site is what I believe raises a red flag to Google.
I think creating great quality content in and around the website is the key link building strategy after google panda update...
I would think that most people were already using a variety of methods such as you suggest even prior to Penguin, they are all well established and well known methods. I also think that Google has moved beyond accepting what appears to be a natural link to making decisions about whether they actually are or are not natural and then discounting them if they decide not. As yet I don't believe there is sufficient information available to say whether one method or another is still acceptable, especially bearing in mind that few are actually truly natural links. The difficulty here is in what makes a site relevant in the eyes of Google. If a site is there to generate business, then it is unlikely that other sites which are competing in the same market (and therefore are directly relevant) are going to link to it. To use my own example, my real estate site would not have any obvious relevance to a travel site or one that is concerned with retirement, but the real estate is in a foreign holiday resort and the buyers are generally those who holiday abroad and would like a permanent base, and those who are looking to retire to somewhere hot and near the sea. However, I am not saying that you are wrong in your statement, only that if Google is applying relevancy it is doing so without possibly knowing which sites may be relevant to which.
By doing forum and blog posting you will get quality backlinks. And For sure quality content will help you to avoid these penalties.
I Agree a bit with CATechGeek as variety of methods do increase the chances of links... and appear natural to Google. However I will suggest fresh Press Releases and Articles and Web 2.0 Contents play major roles here. Specially Press Release sites as they are hard to get it posted.... Regards GlobalecommerceGroup
Hey thanks for referring that article. Everyone should take a look. It's a great case study on how important a Google+ page is and +1's. Thanks!
Content should be given the first priority. Concentrate more on your on page seo. Then do the link building stuffs. After the panda updates, article directories lost their importance. Ezines are affected by Panda update. So looking for permanent link backs will be the only way to defeat panda. Guest blogging is a great option. You can check my Sig if you want them!
If writing an article for my blog, should I also post the same article on a few article directories? I've heard it will get indexed in Google faster.
Yes you can, Make sure author is same. It gives leverage to authority tags and also tells SE Crawlers that the author is Genuine .
Guest blogging and social networking sites are good techniques. But on top of these are quality content.
