No. Get nicotine patches, and make sure you buy a months supply at a time, AND buy the patches that cost more than your monthly cigarette cost. You then not only have nicotine pumping into your blood, but are financially obliged not to smoke. I quit smoking in 2001 using patches for 3 months. Best thing I've ever done. If I'd have kept smoking for another 6 months, I would never have quit.
Heroin != Nicotin Even if you stopped smoking with patches, what ceekeight said is right. It HELPS you to stop, same as the patches HELP.
It is not true.. No matter what u do it is very difficult to quit smoking.. Until and unless u get into some serious health issues.. I have seen many ppl quit smoking after getting into some serious health issues..
I am actually chewing a gum right now - but I still want to go up to the roof to have a cig - I's say no.
I know plenty of people that have kicked heroin but can't quit smoking. My point is that nicotine is as much a physical addiction as heroin is. Neither of them are easy for your body to give up. Habitual dependence is a lot different from physical/chemical dependence.
What I was saying is by keeping your mouth busy by chewing a gum, it will prevent you from sticking a cigarette into it. That's just my cent about this topic. It's not based on any scientific research or what not.
If you're smoking just because you're orally fixated, then chewing gum can help. Some people are really addicted to inhaling the cigarette smoke though so unless it's nicotine gum, it probably won't be useful.
It's mostly mental. The withdrawals lasted 1 day physical and 3 days mentally, but I cold turkeyed it. Well I used 1 patch after lunch on day 2. Other than that it was just a total resolve to quit. Quite easy once you are dedicated to quitting.
It might work for the normal smoker, but the chain smokers might be helped with the different patches in market i think.
Patches it is, unless you have nicotine gum. Best of both worlds; you keep your mouth busy and get your nicotine fix. Helped me a lot back in the day, was called Nicorettes gum or something like that.
I don't think chewing gum helps to quite smoking.for quitting smoking i need self confidence or strong desire.
