Have you tried to post road signs to promote your website?

Have you tried to post road signs to promote your website? I have seen some websites being promoted with yard signs posted next to the main intersections. I see some website signs (dating and buying gold) being re-posted over and over again, since city code enforcement people keep removing it every few days. Has anyone tried it? Does it work for you and what were the results?

Yes I did. It cost $120 month and I could change the text every two weeks.

It was not worth the 200 visitors. lol

Well, it looks like too much effort and too much money. I guess you get get better traffic with adwords.

Here in Tampa, someone advertises their website building services with bandit signs... I saw those signs everywhere.. They did it for a while too.. I'm guessing they've slacked up a bit because I haven't seen them in a while..

a huge one here is one for junk cars his website name is something easy to remember like junkmycar.com.. I saw this yesterday... The only setback to that is it's expensive and motorists are already distracted trying to call and text while driving.. Now they're surfing the web.. LOL..

Make sure you have an easy or catchy website name.. It could work..

    Good luck :)

Ive seen it before but I dont think I would try it. Offline advertising does work though. You would be better off creating 1000 cheap business cards and spreading them as far as you can. Always gets results :)

If you are selling something on the site than its more worth it but I found that there was more people interesting into learning how to make money online contacting me, then just normal visitors.

I think that if you are trying offline methods, you should stick to one where the user has your url handy for when they can actually access it (business card, post card, flyer, etc). I've seen road signs around here while I've been driving, but there is no way I'd remember their site or still have the urge to check it out by the time I got home.

I saw lot of advertisement on yard as well.... i think it work .
But it depend your target . If your target with high educated and middle income onward , usually they will ignore it because is hard to get them believe in it.
Unless you get a billboard advertisement then it will be different .
Because large billboard show that your company is rich and more trustworthy.

In my case I was thinking about promoting my dating website Datemyride. I think it might work since the name is catchy and easy to remember. I'll let you know how it works out.

I saw local dating sites being advertised along the roads in the area where I live. The only problem it can ensue is if you have google adsense ads on your sites that means you'll probably have lots of clicks from the same ip addresses. Other than that I think it's a pretty darn effective way of advertising.

Never tried it but I'm guessing that it's could be quite expensive and time-consuming to set up. There are much better (and cheaper) ways to promote your website offline.

I once worked with a non-profit that rented a billboard to publicize their website. It was effective but expensive.

If it isn't a visible billboard or banner you will not make any money. Buying billboards for a month can be costly but highly rewarding. You better make sure you did your due diligence or you won't make your money back.

No, I wouldn't. I'd spend the money on something more effective - like AdWords.
