Directory script with spider/cralwer ?

Discussion in 'Directories' started by aryob, Dec 26, 2011.

I am looking for a php directory script that comes with a spider or crawl function. I want the directory to automatically find links from the URL(s) that I will provide to it and those links should be added to the categories. I hope i make sense, is there such a thing?

phpLD has a spider built in. Now to actually crawl and add automatically is possible with some extra configuration, but I hope you have a big server! :)

Doing seo personally without indepth knowledge of it will harm your website. Why dont you consult a seo professional to solve your problem?

Actually, you do get a description (I know this is true for phpLD). However, it is highly recommended that you write your own unique description.

Saw the video tutorial on phpLD site. Looks like a cool tool.

Would suggest that you add a mention in the tutorial that if importing from DMOZ that directory owners should actually visit the site before listing it. So many of the DMOZ listings are invalid, domained or have a totally different site than what's listed on them.

Would also suggest using a more long tail phrase to hopefully get some better sites as well rather than just the top tier sites that have the bigger SEO budgets.

Yeah, I know it was just an example of the tool but seems like everyone would have pretty much the same listings if they were using it to fill the standard categories.

Yea, but if they did that they might end up having a successful directory instead of a cookie cutter site like everyone else! What is this forum coming to? :)
