What would you say (in your opinion obviously) are the 5 best Wordpress Plugins...

and why ??I've quite limited experience at the moment, so interested to get a feel from more experience bloggers / wordpress users.. My main experience at the moment has been looking at e-commerce plugins, but as I've asked about those on another thread, we can leave those out.. Personal so far I like Jetpack and Sociable..

I don't know 5, but I like "popularity contest" as it shows your most popular posts to new readers.

Subscribe to comments is also good as it helps you get more comments.

Secures your wordpress website against those nasty hackers who have injections filled with the liquid called 'malware'.
I use all of those on my own as well as my client's websites.
I would like to add 'Backup Buddy' as well, does remote backups while I am partying on Hawaii Islands and drops them into my dropbox.
If you need assistance with any of those just feel free to drop me a PM.

I'm not a hardcore wordpress security expert, but its my duty to have information about that stuff as my client's websites are based on wordpress.

Sure, feel free to PM me if you need help.

    Thanks for the tips Starcaller.

I like the plugin Link Juice Keeper, which redirects any missing URL's to the homepage.

    I like these 5 plugins...

    1. dd-formmailer - instead of including my email details, I just leave a form on the contacts page
    2. simple-trackback-validation - seems to block most the spammy trackbacks
    3. sitemap-generator - does what it says
    4. wp-captcha-free - but I still get spammy comments?
    5. xml-google-maps - seems to do what it says, but im not a search engine spider, what do I know?

    another one I rate highly:
    • delete-revision - if your database gets bloated it gets rid of the all the revisions - just run it and then disable it when its done...

Thanks guys, great comments, keep them coming. Agree with SEO for Wordpress by Yoast - Excellent. I've just added a very good affiliate plugin from JVZoo also.

    1. Gravity Forms - hands down the easiest and most powerful form software for WP
    2. ShortcodeKid - I own this plugin (so I am biased), but I bought it from the original developer because I love it. Gives the average user a lot more control over page design and layout.
    3. Image widget - easily allows you to add images into your widgets
    4. SEO Ultimate - from the great folks at WPMU // +1 Starcaller
    5. Quick Status - my new favorite plugin from WPMU - lets you make posts to your site as you would making a Facebook post.

    Other I like:

Floating Social - gives you the social media icons that "float" just outside your site's border
NexGen Gallery - Best photo gallery plugin - more options that built in WP gallery
FancyBox for WP - Love the overlay effect with the easy to spot close button (x) - reduces confusion

...I should probably stop here :) Sorry i went over.
