    Hi All

I am hoping that some kind sole might be able to show me how to insert a text link in a facebook status update.

I can paste a link no problems, but I don't want it to appear as a dirty URL.

    Cheers

    Jake

I'm not sure what you mean by dirty URL?

If you mean that Facebook comes up with a small preview of the website? Then I think a good way to get arround this is to make a free website with a meta-refresh so that Facebook picks up the free (clean) website but not the real website (which the page will instantly refresh into).

To be honest I've never needed to cloak a Facebook link so the above is just theory, but it should work. (My method's allow me to bluntly put CPA links into Facebook and still get high conversions, but then again I don't use Facebook to market "dirty" things if your meaning "adult" services)

Let me know how you get on and if theres anything I can help you with.

You can do it...it is very easy.. just write a content in your status text box and then just below that there is a symbol. If you click on that symbol, you can add URL directly. just take your mouse on each symbol and you will get that...

Thanks guys, and I am not sure if I explained it properly.

Instead of posting a status update containing a link that looks like: This is a status update, with a link http://www.facebook.com

I want it to look like this: This is a status update, with a text link Facebook

He wants to be able to control the link text, and to my knowledge you cannot. The link text is going to be the URL itself.

No html in status updates, FB people are probably not that sophisticated so they haven't done much with it.

Facebook does allow link text on fan pages, such as this page which in the left column has one-word links to URLS

Does anyone know how to do this? When you make a box for links on your fan page, all you are given is a text box. I don't know how to transform my URL into a simple link text.

Things have changed. You can now post a text link to a Facebook fan page in a status update. The excellent John Haydon has a video showing you how.

I'm a newbie here so can't post a direct link so search YouTube for '
How to create a text link to your Facebook Page in a Facebook comment'.

The structure in the update is @[pageid:name of page]

The video explains how to get the page id. Not straightforward but possible.

I think if you just put a link in, it will automatically turn it into a link anyway, either that or use the symbol.

Hello, you can create a custom text link in FB by first creating the link with the Link command up top, attach it, post it, then click on the text you want to change for the hyperlink and you can delete and re-enter your own custom anchor text. Pretty cool!

Use Just Redirect app to redirect from a Facebook page tab to any URL you want. You can make it sound like anything. For example, You could make a page tab with the page title Awesome Deals, and the tab title Coupons for ...

Paste the URL and once the link shows up, delete the url that you post. I hope you get it. :)

What is dirty link? There is a browser in facebook written as "whats in your mind". Copy your link, then click on post. It will post the link on your wall.
