If adsense carry on with all this smart pricing, low revshare, strict anti-fraud, laziness (eg. buying youtube instead of making google video better - this is more a google point rather than adsense), high payouts etc. do you think they'll start losing money, customers etc? Dom
WOW slow down buddy G is not just a garage company any more They have a business plan to follow so I don't think they are going anywhere anytime soon
agree with pixads, if you look at every company or person in history everyone always keeps predicting the end of them, it does normally happen but never when they are still expanding and growing, its only when companies become complacent that anything like that will happen (e.g. apple v microsoft)
I don't mean they'll collapse but don't you think at the moment things are going downhill for G's adsense?
google wont permit the end of adsense. adsense & adwords are the source of 99% of their money. I think everything that happen with these tools, were thought many months ago ...
if anything is going to effect adsense it's going to be the publisher bubble. As long as advertisers continue to get 125% return on their investments they will continue to buy ads. Once that 125% gets too low then obviously they will stop spending as much for advertising. Thennnnnnnnnn the pay per click will get lower, thennnn it will get back up to 125% cause they won't have to pay as much for a click. Honestly adsense is a lot better than the other options and that is the way it is going to be for at least the next 12 - 24 months IMO
at 473.55 $ a SINGLE share (nov. 13, 06) and with adsense and adwords representing 90% and up of their income, they are not going to let this opportunity go away at all. When a major company has such a good reputation among their shareholders, they are not about to reinvent thier strategies and their way of making money cause that will scare investors and the shares are going to plunge with it... So, I'll go with the rest of the people here, this is just the beggining.
The problem with Adsense... Let's say you start a hardware store. You need to rent a store. That's a lot of money. You need to buy hardware. You need to advertise. And you need a staff. Starting a hardware store costs a lot of money and there's a lot to lose if you mess up. Which is why there are not 1,000 hardware stores on every block. But let's say the rent for my hardware store was only $5 a month. That I could make my own hardware for free, without much effort. In fact, I could buy a gadget for $50 that would make all my hardware for me and I'd never have to spend another sent. The sign for the hardware store costs $8, and the hardware, well, it knows how to talk, so it can actually find people and bring them to the store. This all sounds great, except now everyone found out how much money I'm making with my new store. So they put down their $20 and started a store. And soon there are a thousand hardware stores on one block. People are sick and tired of being begged to buy hardware so they just stop going to hardware stores because they're so desperate. The hardware stores don't cost anything to run, so instead of closing down, they just sit there, unattended, taking up room. Folks, the hardware store is your website. ANd until the amateurs get out of the game, all chasing The Rich Jerk's "secrets" and the same scammy "ebooks" that promise wealth, we're all going to be competing with subpar, mercenary sites that are of little value. It's my hope that eventually, this is a fad and some of these people just go away. One can hope.
currently GOOgle main area of income is search engines and adsense no way these two are going time anytime in the future.
I don't know about you but I have absolutely no problem "competing" with subpar sites of little value. Sorry that you do though!
I think the new strategies formed by Google is to screw the people who tries to abuse the system, so think postively, that it could help the good advertisers and publishers to get a better fortune in adsense...
I agree with you... they are now starting to introduce new strategy and let's say how this will help both publishers and advertisers
As someone coming from software development, I have a problem with all that mention of Hardware. Software rules
Well, no doubt all those sub-par websites are smart priced and receive only about .01-.05 per click. That leaves the higher paying clicks above and beyond $1 for quality sites like mine, and with a couple hundred clicks a day, well, hah, you do the math. I find the only people who complain about Adsense are those who don't run legitimate content-driven websites, but rather sites developed around Adsense and making money. Then they complain when they receive really low CPCs.
Unless something better comes out, most people are going to stick with Adsense, regardless of smart pricing or anything else.
I guess it has been a fair share. If you love more share, put your money in GOOG stock. Strict anti-fraud is supposed to do good to everyone, advertisers, publishers and google. Acquiring YouTUBE is pretty much a clever move. They want to put ads where people are. You have too much free capital on hand, what's you gonna do with it? You will buy several running businesses; that's include putting the cash in some stocks if you can't buyout.
