well ok ok, 99.9% can write and read. Happy now? I left the retarded people out of there. Oh, btw i do have friends from US and know many on this board and they are all the same.....
No, you're missing the point. Google can simply geo-target their banners for the country of origin. Veterans day for U.S. people doing searches, Finland Holidays for Finish searchers, etc. There is no conflict, there is no reason for Google's disrespect. They simply CHOOSE to disrespect U.S. Veterans.
Hmm.. well then you are right, they damn well should have something about it then. If they show others memorial days, then why not yours too! Stupid google, but what can u do...
I agree with MOST of this statement. They could and should target it towards the us. It really wouldn't take much. Now for the part where I disagree. They don't CHOOSE to disrespect them. They just CHOOSE not to go out of their way to show respect. I have never seen anything disrespectful from google to veterans. It's the lack of respect that this thread is showcasing
I’m not an American so I wouldn’t know, but if Veterans Day is a national holiday then it would be nice if Google showed some acknowledgment. I can’t see what this has to do with politics.
What a garbage thread on basically a garbage forum. The more I read what "non-Americans" have to say about the US, the less I want to hear.
Google in the UK recognised our Remembrance Sunday (basically, when we remember our war dead and veterans)...seems amiss of Google to ignore what I guess is the American equivalent...
Google said that the Holiday was too solemn to acknowledge. Sounds like a lame excuse to me, since they acknowledge Rememberance Day in Canada and the UK.
What's wrong with Bush-hating liberals??? I think it is the Bush worshippers who have gotten it wrong. Bush is a moron and is undoubtly the worst american president ever.
nothing's wrong with hating bush, i just mentioned that as a possible motivation for skipping the holiday.
Google's long term goal is to control of the exchange and transfer off all information through all mediums. This kind of objective is incompatible with American values and the constitution & bill of rights so it is no surprise they chose not to honor veteran's day.
How is google snubbing American vets? I mean, they do it when they want.. There not OBLIGED to salute every holiday. Jeez.
The men and women in the military do not make policy. They serve their country. Often, it is with terrible sacrifice. It is a privilege to honor veterans. As a veteran, I defended their right to show or not show support, for whatever reason. If I felt strongly about it, I could also exercise my right to choose to do business only with those who show support.
But what does Google have to do with veterans? Last time I checked it was google.com and not google.gov
The point is Google does choose to celebrate all kinds of holidays, birthdays, etc. The question is why would thy choose to ignore the American Veterans.
And that's fine, various soldiers from various countries fight wars so that you are entitled to that opinion..... Now I just wish some of those soidiers would explain freedoms, privacy, and persuit of happiness to bush, so I can freely gamble where i want to online, and happily promote it on my websites, without ole Bush hangin out in my living room!
It is also my birthday so that should make them do it I heard somewhere that Google didn't want to sway oppinion or something. I don't know the whole scenario but I know that they still care because I know Larry and Sergey and they are that type of guys.
Politics and religion are the most controversial topics there are and I don't think that Google as a company would be wise to take part in the madness.
