Well the acting is just aweful and it's obviously an advertisement but it's an interesting idea. Are you having much success using youtube as an advertising medium?
The Youtube viewer > website visiter ratio is suprisingly high - though I suspect there are a lot of curious clickers. I certainly didn't expect 3,000 views on the video in the first week with no other promotion of the video except uploading it to Youtube. Pete
While youtube and other video and network service could be funny or enjoyable while taking a break, if they are irrelevant to your site you can simply scare away your actual traffic. Streaming video also reduces site's performance and some videos look unaesthetic with those big buttons in the middle. Of course it's a good strategy if your site has something to do with them
That's awesome. The LA Times recently ran an interesting article on how YouTube users try to 'game' (read: pimp) the system to generate more views for their videos. It can even get downright nasty with other video bloggers making 'retaliation' vids. Here's a link: http://justtraffic.blogspot.com/2006/11/how-to-get-traffic-from-youtube.html
Damn I can't access the story I aren't registered though I did hear about the lonelygirl actor. One of the best things imho that helps is to make YouTube pick the exact frame you want displaying as the thumbnail - you simply edit your video so that the middle frame is the one you want the thumbnail as i.e. if your video is 60 seconds in length, YouTube will use the frame at 30 seconds for the thumbnail so make sure it's enticing. Hence the best girl in my video with the largest hooters is now the thumbnail - and she is slap bang in the middle of the video at 44.5 seconds - video is 128 in length. I don't know if that is common knowledge I'm a total YouTube newbie but maybe some people will find it useful! Pete
I actually thought it was a great idea. You create something people want to see and benefit from a few visitors.
