Hey all, Im just wondering everyones opinion on the new CSS3. Im very familure with it and have been coding with it for quite a while now and im loving it. Also what problems have you come across with CSS3. And how many projects have you used CSS3 in.
Obviously the main problem is browser compatibility. Unfortunately some people still use <IE9. But I do like to use border-radius because it's so easy, as well as some others.
Mostly corporates and normal families use <IE, i think IE and Opera is the only browsers that make CSS3 a problem.
i just started to learn CS3 am in the basic, but as per my study i came to know that the IE and opera are the both browser which doesnt support CSS and creates error.
U suggest you update your IE to 9 and Opera to 11.61. If you use older browser versions, no wonder that they can't handle CSS3.
Using any version of IE is a downgrade, not an upgrade. Use any browser but IE for the best CSS3 compatibility.
Unfortunatly do to the amount of people who insist on still using IE and using old versions of IE at that I have not even bothered attempting to play with CSS3 yet.
I dont know who in the world would recommend you still use IE, especially design/develop wise. Yes it is great to make sure everything is cross browser compatible, but i would not suggest coding strictly around IE ---------- I think opera kinda has its own language a little bit, im not quite sure what there developers were thinking...
I never said I still use it. I use firefox. But what I use makes no difference, what matters is what our visitors use and unfortunatly as I already stated alot of people still use IE.
I didnt say, u said u still use it, it sounded like someone suggested u use it. But yeah its more about the consumer then the provider when it comes 2 web design.
I use CSS3 where it is needed, i am not forcing myself to use it just because it is cool. And if i need to use CSS3, there is no way i will waste my time for Internet Explorer compatibility. Coding for the old technology will keep you in the dark age, also if a person uses Internet Explorer i don't think he cares about the user experience.
I kind of a agree with Dr. Howard Troll - DP has little public expertise when it comes to even basic things . Almost every post in here makes me faceplam . CSS3 is the best thing since sliced bread . When it comes to webdesign CSS3 + JS will ensure that your website looks fantastic on all the browsers . In 2012 the only major rere is IE8 and that's not that a major challenge like IE6 .
I was aware of that a long time ago . However there are a couple of experts on DP but more and more are leaving . The spam is slowly killing everything that's good .
I used to go to one board where the owners were absent even with a dedicated bunch of mods and users. But the mods had no control over the influx of spam and one of them eventually started up his own board which flourishes.
The problem today is that boards don't have the expert cafe feel they used to . They are more like spam board , nurseries for imbeciles or ghost towns . I used to go around SitePoint as they have a fair share of experts but after the last UX "upgrade" i get a UX seizure at the first glance . Truth be told Area 51 could be that expert cafe but when you're an expert you have StackOverflow for your problems and your associates to chat with . I'm not sure anymore if the problem is the community or the fact that we outlevel the general community by miles . BTW What do your think about the future of Flash ?
And it seems even SO is crumbling with the weight of people asking the same html/css questions over and over again. I go there every day and sometimes the first page is filled with them. I spend some time just voting to close them as duplicates. With Adobe dropping support for Flash on mobile, along with the companies I deal with who have told me "no flash", it sounds like it's on the down slope.
