It looks like Democrats may have a slightly higher occurrence of sex scandals.

If you go to the source, it has separate lists for various sex scandals, both Republican and Democrat. Based on the story last summer with Hinkle, certain aspects I find most disturbing (assuming it's all true as stated), is the fact that he humiliated his family for a cheap thrill, he was unfaithful to his wife, jeopardizing the family by looking for sex on Craigslist, and even when the prostitute was trying to leave, he's trying to grab at him, and exposed himself. Yuck. But, I think you're aware it's not just Republicans that get caught at doing these types of acts.

Who could forget Anthony Weiner' wiener, or the Oregons congressional rep in a tiger suit.

I think what GWorld is trying to tap into here is outrage at hypocrisy, where a Republican denounces homosexuality as immoral and wrong, but turns out to be secretly driving the Hershey highway. I personally have to agree with him on this subject (did I really just say that?). Hypocrisy is in many cases more the issue than the issue itself.

For instance, that Obama runs the least transparent government in history, or that he has extended the patriot act, or military tribunals, or Guantanamo bay, or carried out military actions without congressional approval, or that unemployment is at a 39 year high, or that he channels billions of taxpayer dollars to his political contributors, or that he has grown the size of the federal government from 18% to 25% of GDP, or that actively campaigns for anonymous campaign contributions through super pacs, these things are all annoying to enraging on their own. Unabashedly and hypocritically doing these things despite the fact his campaign ran against them is perhaps more enraging than any act individually.

Nobody likes a hypocrite, though it would seem that party faithful from both sides of the isle are more than willing to excuse hypocrisy, so long as it comes from their own camp. And then there is GWorld, who wishes Lenin was still around to save us.

You can't be a politician without being a hypocrite. Ask Obama if you don't believe me.

Diplomats are just talented hypocrites.. Anyway what in the world anybody can expect from a politician in a country where faking smiles is a part of everyday life of virtually everyone ? Boggles my mind.

If a diplomat is nothing more then a hypocrite he would never be able to reason treaties of peace . Politicians can be hypocrites because they have power and untill the next elections that power is safe . A diplomat that lies is a dead man .

Wow. That's the longest sentence, ever. :)

    This is just my opinion:

In regards to transparency in government, agreed, it's probably about the same as always. With the extension of the Patriot Act, it looks like a bunch of Republicans voted for it. I have no problem with military tribunals. With Guantanamo Bay, he did say he would close it. I believe he honestly wants to. On carrying out military actions without congressional approval, fail. Unemployment is a serious problem. I think I would have dealt with the issue far more aggressively, and given it way more priority than elected Democrats or Republicans have. I don't believe tax payer dollars have been spent on political contributors in exchange for their support. Right, we need to decrease government spending. I guess the Republicans take advantage of the super pacs too.

Boom tish kaboom! Overwhelmingly Republican votes extending the patriot act there, just as we all suspected too. Well that blows that argument right out of the water eh Obamanation. No, in fact it hands it to the Democrats to fire back with... One of the worst crimes ever perpetrated on the American people was driven entirely by Republicans. This is just my opinion. :) Good find Rebecca. Why does that make me smile? I only hope more people realise the Republicans are indeed the enemy of the average Joe.

I have to agree with your points here, but lets not forget the point of this thread and the point of my post. Hypocrisy. When you run against "immorality" and get caught in the behavior, you are a hypocrite. Say one thing, do another.

All of my points on Obama do not express my personal take on the matter. I too am fine with military tribunals, but Obama specifically campaigned against them. Same with Patriot act, and undeclared wars, and deficit spending, and most recently, Super PACs.

Specifically in regard to SuperPacs, he was directly responsible for hyping the rhetoric from the State of the Union, where he had the tremendous sack to lambaste and lecture the Supreme Court for their finding. What a moron. Roll the clock 14 months forward, and we have Obama sending staffers to openly campaign for his Super PACS. Good thing they(and Obama) aren't paid only for the time they spend on the actual business of government, or they would be starving.

Again, you can agree or disagree with any of these issues. I happen to agree with the Citizens United decision. I just find it hilarious that the so-called left can lump down their boy Obama's blatant and overt hypocrisy, and have the gall to bring up the sexual preference of ANY Republican as a campaign issue(Did you see Sheriff Paul Babeu just got outed by his hispanic lover lol?).

Democratic supporters just make excuses for their hypocrisy with some idiotic ad homlike, "Well, at least he isn't a war mongering Republican" or something equally lame like "Republicans are indeed the enemy of the average Joe". LoL. Perhaps they don't get it. Perhaps they really don't give a rats ass about these things they claimed were supposedly important to them. Perhaps they are all hypocrites, so rank hypocrisy is a plus in a candidate. Perhaps it is all of the above.

Personally, I could give a cr*p if a male Republican candidate likes his evening liasons young, hot, hispanic, and male, or if they find those hookups in on Craigslist, so these types of threads just leave me laughing We have a president and congress that are spending this country rapidly into it's grave and the Democrats expect us to ignore that basic fact in favor of talking about where a candidate puts his pecker? Really? The ultimate comedy is seeing where Bushranger weighs in on this thread (for obvious reasons).

Democrats. Party of hypocrites. Self loathing comes natural to liberals.

The hypocrisy issue here specifically has to do with Right Wing Politicians wrapping themselves up in The moral ethical Christian Right Wing and specifically espousing family values, attacking the gay population, women's rights and health issues, ascribing any alternative perspective to a breakdown in society.

How many of these hypocrites are there among the Extremist Right Wing?? And how is it that these prime examples of moral decrepitude rise to the top of the GOP while simultaneously wrapping themselves in the symbolic coat tails of family values while time after time ripping their own families apart with treachory.

Well currently we have one very loud mouthed example in Newt Gingrich running for President. Newt's entire career is comprised of moralistic attacks on politicians. Yet Newt has twice had affairs while married, both times with younger women, and both times he confronted his now ex-wives while they were desperately infirm. What a vile heartless creep.

This guy held back on child support and alimony and his ex first wife had to get help from friends to keep supporting herself and their children. source

One failed GOP candidate, Herman Cain was accused by 4 different women of sexual abuse, several were paid off by his former employer, to settle the issue, and one woman claimed a long standing affair....all occurring while Cain was married.
    source

Herman Cain is now supporting and campaigning on behalf of Gingrich. What is this the anti family, abuse your wives fan club???

In the Senate, Louisiana GOP Right Wing Extremist endlessly preaches about morality. He is still in office. While married he had regular relations with paid DC hookers and acknowledged it. He is still in office moralizing against Democrats.

John Ensign, ex Senator from Nevada was a card carrying loud espousing member of the Christian Right promoting family values. In 2009 his illicit sexual predatory affair came to light, but he stayed in office for 2 more years. Ensign bullied his wife's friend into having an affair with him, paid off the family to keep it quiet, and all the time was big supporter of Right Wing Christian values.

Larry Craig engaged in an anonymous homosexual act in a Minneapolis airport, and acknowledged it in 2007. He regularly supported Right Wing attacks on Gays. He stayed in office as a Senator through 2008, and used funds from his campaigns to pay for his legal cases source.

Craig not only lied to his family, completely acted in a way that was at 100% odds with the political beliefs he used to help him get elected, but then stayed in office to collect a salary, and used excess campaign funds to pursue legal efforts on this case.

Not only are there endless cases of GOP right wing politicians abusing their families, their wives, and their so called principles, but the GOP has a long history of enabling these ethical hypocrites to remain in office, collect taxpayer monies and allow them to continue to preaching.

There is something terribly wrong here.

Everybody remember that? Here is one of the first "Transparency" laws put forward by Obama.

So much for freedom of information. We aren't just going to send you 5% of the documents related to "Fast and Furious", all of them heavily redacted. No, no. We'll just deny the existence of any such documents. Meanwhile, I want you folks to concern yourself with the fact the Republicans are harboring Homosexuals and Mormons! Have they no shame?

By the way, am I the only one to find it encouraging that the gays appear to be turning on the Democrats? I wonder what phrase they will think of to somehow call them "Uncle Toms" like they do to any Black Republican.

O_Nation: I see you have zero to say about the false hypocrisy of the GOP as to moral standards and family values. You are trying to change the topic.

I take that as acknowledgement that the extreme Right Wing GOP is the prime example of destroying family values. Moreover as one after another GOP moralist engages in a family destructive act the GOP enables that so called political moral "leader" to stay in office, make money off of taxpayers, use political money to try and defend himself or alternatively run for office.

Out of the long history of candidates running for office of President, how many candidates other than Newt Gingrich, didn't pay alimony or child support? I seem to recall you calling Newt the toot....President Gingrich a short while ago. I suppose you support Newt's actions on behalf of his family.

You know what the problem is earl that your politicians are even worse far far freaking worse . I went to some US democrats forum recently to understand what makes them tick . To my surprise i couldn't find any shred of intelligence , not one strategic analysis , not one good scientific study . To sum it up i only found yelling , crying and poop trowing . I know that a lot of politicians from the republican side fail to deliver and a lot of them are hypocrites but at least they have the right ideas .

I guess that the average American can only vote them and hope that things will get better .

False hypocrisy? Does that mean fake hypocrisy, or hypocrisy that isn't really hypocrisy? Like something you made up? If that is your question then no, I completely disagree. Certain Republican candidates have demonstrated a great deal of true hypocrisy. In that spirit my post was right on topic.

Here is some more from the

    Most Transparent Administration in History

Hard to bring transparency to the government, and more specifically to the fed when you have Wall Street and the Obama White house fighting any audit which might create said transparency. What are we to expect from the most transparent administration in history?

Not sure what you mean by "my politicians". But I acknowledge the political debates in the US are often way off base, dealing on topics of triviality and misinformation.

On a side note, a friend of mine that was a lobbyist and one time considered for an appointment by the Bush administration, described what a pol told him: to requote somewhat while trying to keep the gist of the comment:

I spend most of my day raising money and a little time on policy. US politics is way too wrapped up in raising money, with huge spending campaigns. These days its even worse as the Supreme Court opened the gates for endless highly skewed advertising paid for by mostly secretive hugely wealthy people, wherein the advertising is all attack advertising. Then the media picks up on it and then the candidates respond to it. Its all ugly.

Of course we are now seeing that in spades via the GOP that is using this fresh influx of attack spewing ads paid for by a relatively few incredibly wealthy people.

What a systemic disgrace to the political process. Its a direct result of the Right Wing Supreme Court opening up the political process to unlimited primarily secretive funding by hugely wealthy people with no limits whatsoever.

The current result seems to be that it is reducing voter participation. People are disgusted with it. Its sick and so utterly extremist its turning off the population.

Secondly the parties today are at extraordinarily opposite extremes. The Right Wing extremists blocked what had heretofor been accepted as a reasonable basis for funding the government by blocking an increase in the debt ceiling...something that enabled the government to both accommodate congressional involvement in the budget process while keeping the government fiscally operating for about the last 94 years since legislation first enabled this process.

The entire fiscal world shuddered as the extremist right wing made false arguments tied to this process...and blocked it sufficiently to ultimately lead to downgrading of US debt ratings. How is that for an unfunctioning government, wherein debates get skewed into ridiculous arguments that were never invented for the last 94 years.

Do you realize that in an effort to solve debt issues the Obama administration through out a mixture of cost cutting and revenue raising through tax increases at a level of $10 of cost cuts to $1 of tax increases. The GOP extremists turned it flat down.

Do you realize the single most knowledgeable professional who directly dealt with US debt issues for 9 years, David Walker suggested that to solve the long term debt problems in the US it would be appropriate to cut govt taxes by $3 for every $1 increase in taxes.

But the extremist right wing wouldn't accept even a $10 to $1 trade.

Yep....political discourse is tough in the US. It appears that the extremists on the Right Wing are skewing everything into ridiculous issues. Meanwhile I'd be interested to hear about the stupid stuff the Dems were discussing. I'm sure it missed critical issues. Our current political situation doesn't seem to accommodate reasonable discussions.

Why Earlpearl, how nice of you to bring up deficit spending and out of control budgets. I consider it right on topic for this thread. Hypocrisy.

More Hypocrisy - Obama on the Deficit

So if $4 trillion in new debt over 8 years is unpatriotic and irresponsible, I wonder how Obama would characterize the $6 trillion in new debt over three years he has created? I wonder how he would characterize Bush's $500 billion dollar deficit in comparison to the $1.6 trillion dollar deficits he is running? I wonder if he thinks these types of comparissons should be reported to AttackWatch.com as groundless smears?

What topic of hypocrisy would you like to cover next Earl? I'm loving this thread.

O_Nation: changing the topic off of the immoral GOP members again: hidden gays that gay bash and ruin their families...or adulterous politicians who run and campaign on family values.

Its horrible. One can't help but believe that the breakdown in moral values is a direct result of hypocritical leaders who profess to support fundamentalist Christian values in support of the family and then act to rip it apart...one after the other. Meanwhile the GOP seems to accommodate every one of them. They all seem to stay in office endlessly, taking taxpayer money while their leadership by example leads one to believe that they laugh at the values of the family.

Agreed. There are many examples of Obama not being consistent with what he campaigned on.

With Sheriff Paul Babeu - Eek! Crazy stuff :) "Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu - who became the face of Arizona border security nationally after he started stridently opposing illegal immigration — threatened his Mexican ex-lover with deportation when the man refused to promise never to disclose their years-long relationship, the former boyfriend and his lawyer tell New Times."

The fact that he's gay doesn't bother me. What does, is he publicly claims to be strongly opposed to illegal immigration, all the while, dating an illegal immigrant on the sly. That does matter. Or, consider Weiner and Facebook. That incident displayed bad judgment, disrespect for his family, and dishonesty.
