Actually, text links SEO much better...so it really depends on what you're trying to accomplish: revenue or visitors. If you want money, and have the visitors, yes...the above tactic is best; but f you need a happy medium of both revenue and increased visitors, text ads work best. If your forum is getting a lot of unique's each day then sell banner advertising spots and stick up some adsense blocks on the forum. Create a premium membership on the forum like digital point has.

Well, going through all your suggestions one by one, I've tried amazon and buysellads 125x125 spots. Not revenue for past 3 days. Next I'll try clickbank and aweber and what happens. Oh...if anyone has deep pockets and reckons they can monetize the site, I'm open to selling it
I just joined your site. Not bad, I think there is more potential. One reason I can think of is ad placement and layout. It can be an eyesore at times with all that text, especially in the 'tag cloud' underneath everything. You really have to think about the market that is using your forum and target each section with specific ads. Anyway, good luck, well done
Well, I tried clickbank to promote the top SEO product sitewide in the footer and didn't get a single click. Do you have to create your own banner for clickbank? btw, the tag cloud at the bottom actually earns $$$ Now I'm advertising 2 banner spots in the sitewide in the footer for only $15/mth: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2411130#post17371404 If anyone reckons they can do better in monetizing the site I may sell at a fraction of the valuation price
Another good method to monetize is just buy selling a ton of 125*125 around the site with buysellads. Direct your visitors too them and have promotions. In the end this can really help you. With buysellads, I recommend having a certain payment per month rather than pay per impression
Well, I've now tried clicksor. It is by far the most invasive advertising system I've seen. Even on the most conservative setting it clobbers the site with banners, inline txt ads, pop-unders and Interstitial Ads. It's so intrusive that visitors find it hard to even view my site. Eventually this will destroy my traffic! And at the end of it all the revenue is a measley 5 cents per day. I earn much more from infolinks and adsense. So back to buysellads hoping for a buyer.
