Note: This idea is only ment for the 'buy, sell, and trade' areas. From another VB type forum: "Ads are now displayed in order of when it was posted, not latest reply" Then everyone has "100% equal time at the top", and mods don't have complaints about "he/she bumped with no infraction, why can't I?" (or "give penalties to all bumpers") Thanks
What I would expect to see happen then is each day someone opens a new thread selling same product. We have some of that now but would expect more of a problem if this is instituted.
Not at all the same, IMO. The way I suggested still shows valuable, informative, public interaction between buyer and seller. That thread is much different.
I think its a good idea and I would support it, I have seen this working at WHT and really works very well. One more thing that can be done is to limit one thread a day in individual forum in B/S/T. So for eg, if I have to sell Link, I can start one thread only within a span of 24Hrs in the Link Sales forum. I think, this can be done easily through forum setting.
Thanks. Update: NP has an interesting twist. The thread only goes back to the top when another member.....Edit: Oh never mind, scammers with multiple accounts will be the only ones who abuse it. I'm done, but thanks anyway.
I believe your help is much appreciated. But while being useful in other forums, the Buy, Sell and Trade category is running smoothly it is set now, IMHO
To be honest, I think it would cause some unnecessary added confusion. You can choose how you want to order a forum on a per-user basis already.
I am not sure it will cause any confusion, I have seen this working at WHT and threads are pre sorted by the thread start date not last post date. And is pretty effective as it takes care of any sort of thread bumps, whether deliberate or un-intentional. Also at BST forum level in DP, I can only sort the order by Last post, not by thread start date. Unless I am missing any other technique. All we are requesting is to set default order to be by thread start date. And have a limit of one thread per forum in a span of 24 Hrs. May be you can test it out for couple of weeks and have feedback. A humble request
