Google PageRank Mystery

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by nextebizguy, Nov 11, 2006.

About a month or so ago I wrote an article as part of contest that got many visitors and a lot of links from other blogs. The mystery is why the links have done nothing to increase my google PR (site is still at PR 0).

    Any ideas what's up?

I really want to get out of the 0 basement.

Google does not update site PR everyday. You have to wait till the next update.

I'll add a bit more detail. Google is constantly updating their internal PR, but the PR you see in the Google toolbar (or any other tool that shows PR) is based on a snapshot of the actual PR values. They update this snapshot about once every three months or so.

Updates to the actual toolbar PR (the little green bar) takes about 2-3 months...but rest assured that google does update page rank all the time.

So is there any place on google to find out the "current" PR for a page/site?

you can use the google sitemaps to see how your PR is distributed and it will also show you your page with the highest page rank. But this is pretty much useless because it only should the following PR categories: Not Assigned, Low, Medium, High.

I wouldnt worry too much about PR, it is pretty much useless unless you are interested in selling links on your page. Continue creating quality content and be patient, the links will come to you. And in the end, the PR you receive will reflect this.
