The following are 5 ways of getting free traffic to your very own affiliate program:

Tip #1 – Content And Distribution

The more you share, the more traffic you will get. Submit articles to sites like eZines which will use and distribute your article. Try Youtube a give also! The more distribution, the more traffic!

    Tip#2 - “SEO Traffic”

Search engine optimization is probably the most popular and best way to get consistent targeted traffic to your website. The only problem here is getting a good ranking!

    Tip #3 - Online Communities

Community websites are great as a free traffic source. By actively participating in discussions online you can drive a lot of traffic to your website. People participating in forums share many of the same problems. To be a part of the community in your niche would mean that you can share knowledge, learn, and stay motivated. You can be of service to others, and get plenty of traffic in return.

    Tip#4 – Start Squidoo

As a marketer, squidoo will come in handy. It is loved by Google when it comes to search engine rankings. Anyone can post topics of their choosing on squidoo and the fast paced search engine results can drive in loads of traffic.

    Tip #5 – Craigslist

With Craiglist, you can post up ads for free. Google loves Craigslist and your ads can be indexed within about twenty-four hours. Not only should you expect to see search engine results, but views from the many millions of visitors that visit Craiglist everyday.

Make sure the affiliate program you choose works with reputable sponsors who are selling products that you would be comfortable buying yourself.

OK -someone take the time and energy- explain how PPC is worth for an affiliate program? Paying by each click? How much do programs usually pay and how is it worth it ?

    Cheers

    You:
PPC is a strategy in your overall marketing plan. It contains split testing of Design, copywriting and sales ads. Costly advertising method until you find the right combination's that sell well.

You need to FIND Buying Keywords that people are using for your service - If you are looking for a Psychic.. What would you search on? trusted psychics? psychics reviews? Psychic forums?

    Affiliates:
Can be lucrative if the payout is worth it, For example if you are paying out 100$ for the CPA offer.. then I would find buying keywords that are .05-.30 cent a click.. and gamble on loosing a certain amount of clicks to make 1 cpa offer of 100$ covering my costs. So 100 clicks= 25$ but if I can 3 CPA completions I will make 275$ after advertising costs.

Yes and there are many ways to do it,for example:
Put your logo on your vehicle. Write press releases. Place an ad in the Yellow Pages. Get brocheres and flyers made.
Also get your clients to refer you.

As to online advertising, try banner ads. Join as many sites as you can and let everyone know about you. And yes use affiliate marketing as well.

Advertising is what I do for a living. Trust me the Yellow Pages work and it doesn't cost much at all. Remember that advertsing for your buisness can be used as a tax writeoff too, save all your receipts.

Submit to affiliate directories. One of the more established ones is at associateprograms.com

You can also post on affiliate forums (without spamming if there is an affiliate program sub-forum)

The best way to get affiliates is through networking. Being in-house, recruiting affiliates is relatively more involved. If you are a merchant and if you are not prepared to spend countless number of hours on marketing your program and recruiting affiliates, having an OPM (outsourced program manager) might also be a good alternative.

As for the advice on the affiliate program itself.. stay away from parasites and make sure your tracking & reporting are absolutely rock solid.
