When I launch my browsers, I have my current page set to start by displaying a file that is on my computer. It's just a page I built that links to a few of my favorite pages, and launches certain utilities that I want handy. It makes for a better desktop. There are many advantages to doing this. For one, if I know there has been a major internet attack by viruses, I can launch my browser and then choose to go somewhere to get updates. Most of the businesses which are major players are hoping that everyone will use their start-up page, and they have some nice designs. What is your browser start-up page?
Firefox's default Google Page for me. I dislike Goo, but love Firefox Your useful page is a good idea.
about:blank - that way I don't have to wait for anything to load. I used to have a page like you, with some links but I kept adding / changing it - I just figured that I should rely on my favorites more
I use to have "blank" too, since some days (a week to be precise) am having a MSN search for Cpayscom2 Online Casino... I guess I'll get back to blank as soon as I drop LOL
I have about 30 pages open (all in tabs) that I look at everyday. As I use Opera, they load pretty fast. I have also saved various sessions so I can have Opera open up my standard session (the 30 tabs) or a work related session or a research related session. Some sites I have in the tabs include: http://forums.digitalpoint.com http://www.wickedfire.com http://www.fark.com http://www.phpizabi.org/forums/english/index.php http://mail.google.com http://slashdot.org/ https://www.google.com/adsense/home and some other sites I like/am involved with/researching
My rss reader (web based) is my homepage. It's Google reader, btw. Looks like, if this thread is indicative, Google holds the lion's share of homepages.
Mine is my personal blog, it has links to all my other sites so its an easy click and I can see who has commented since I last checked. It used to be google.
I used to use yahoo and now I use google. After reading the thread I think I'm going to change it to about:Tabs Seems like a good idea to me not to load any site and use favorites more often. dthbah2006
