    Everything should make sense now:
    http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?url=http://www.msfirefox.com

Check Google News for the words Microsoft Firefox, and you should see a News.com article. Also check all backlinks.

Do a WHOIS check for domain registration proof. Visit the Alexa link as well just to make sure.

There were a few people who made a bet on the forum, where are you then?

    It still doesn't.
Like, did you come up with a new product of your own?
How have you managed to get it into the news websites?

And wtf? It's copyright to microsoft (as said on the page). Huh?

Well done ye.zero, created a great viral piece using the always emotive subject of MS & FF, care to divulge what steps you took to end up on news.com, digg, cnet, netscape etc etc..? apart from the obvious forum and article posts.

The real question is did you profit anything? If you spent $71 and didn't make a dime than it wasn't worth it. I am interested to know how much you made?

Wrong wrong wrong. Even if he did not put an ad anywhere on the page for the next year it is still worth $71. Look how much residual traffic is coming and the backlinks created. Worth well over $71 to pretty much anyone.

Ok you have a point but...that type of traffic is not natural and I hesitate to believe that google will love this type of site? Is it blackhat or whitehat techniques being used?

The site is two weeks old you nut. I just went and read 10 high trafficked sites linking to him. The long term benefits are worth well over $71 even if you can't figure out why. It's as simple as that.

Not to mention he could easily charge for advertising campaigns based on his success.

... Unless of course he gets in legal trouble with microsoft - I wouldn't want to risk that if I would be making a site.

It might help that this is parody but if you are saying on your site

And using their trademarks (logo), you are in lots of trouble if they decide to sue you. I would NOT risk that even if I would get some nice traffic for some months.

I repeat: if microsoft decides to sue you, you will be in lots of trouble. Get rid of the site as fast as you can.

    Brilliant.
Good luck with the residual efects on this one, but I do admire the ingenuity.

 YES.. why does it have to be so fast?..

but very impressive Ye Zero.. but that's not the real world for the majority of the mere mortal webmeisters here like myself..

My way is challenging enough to the average website developer but achievable for the masses if they follow my formula..

I tried a similar thing by spending $100 (Australian Dollars.. worth a lot less than the Yank Dollars) , and only this $100 to drive 50,000 unique visitors per month to my new website sHaMoZzLe.com in under 12 months.

It was a chance to show off my creative marketing prowess without any prior computer and internet knowledge..
note: it was only 2 years ago that I first used the internet..

    So here's BiG MERV's rundown...

Using $100 (AUS) to buy a domain and start a website. Then obtain 50,000 unique hits per month to that site without..

    1. Buying traffic
    2. Using fake traffic generators
    3. Using 'Opt-in lists'
    4. Help from so called 'gurus'
    5. One hit wonders
    6. Risky search tricks

I have provide proof of my challenge by inviting you to click on sHaMoZzLe.com and check the World Wide Website Ranking on www.alexa.com ..and also inviting you to search and see the evidence of some of the Top 20 search results of millions with many major search engines of only some of the 100's of keywords used to generate up to 50,000 unique visitors per month to many of the 100's of pages contained on sHaMoZzLe.com..

Skeptics?.. of course there'll be.. so Search & See..

    Playmate pet 2 of 687,000
    Wolfmother home 1 of 2,920,000
Australias fastest police chase 1 of 1,580,000
    Neverending video 3 of 28,900,000
    webcam cybersex 5 of 1,180,000
Simpsons theme acoustic 4 of 223,000
    Simpsons theme 22 of 7,380,000
Bill Gates tribute 15 of 2,710,000
Paris morning Ferrari 3 of 1,040,000
    Paris Ferrari 974 of 12,200,000
    Letterman Microsoft 17 of 927,000
escape from police video 6 of 9,680,000
blind guitarist video 10 of 4,750,000
    wrong videos 18 of 50,500,000
    Hoff car 10 of 9,590,000
    Budweiser tribute 9 of 420,000
Quiksilver Pro surfing tournament 8 of 40,100
    Merv 6 of 1,990,000

In the real world there is no super shortcut to long term credible website success.. everything above was achieved without tricks and copyright legal risks.. but the ability to tap into your creative resources which involve empathy towards your visitors.. stop and think what kind of site do you like to visit most.. is it a website that evolks a feeling, a mood.. does it entertain.. educate.. inform.. or all of the above as sHaMoZzLe.com endeavours and strives to do every single day of the 7 day week.. every month, up to 18 hours a day.. you must live it and breath it, and must be consumed and driven by passion for your subject matter.. if your goal is purely income, click off now and forget it, you are wasting my time.. I'm a busy man.. I have a beer and a new section about Beers on my website to get back to!
So while you are thinking about how fast you can drive traffic to your website I'm driving traffic to my website without risk, right now while you're reading this.. and I'm glancing at my StatCounter Statistics which are growing bigger and bigger by every single day!

Cheers and good luck with implementing some of my sporadic rant.

Mervyn E. Skilton (The Thirst) ;)
