Get hold of Philip Kotler's book on Marketing Management. A nice book to learn marketing from the basics.

It depends on whether you want to learn about online marketing or offline marketing. Although you can learn about both types on this and other related forums. You should also read your textbooks. For online marketing, you can learn on this forum, other related internet marketing forums and from experts like Peter Drucker. You should also subscribe to websites of successful internet marketers to learn how they market their products and services. Some of them include Jay Abraham , John Carlton and, John Reese and Clayton Makepeace.

College is a great start so learn all you can from your class. But the best teacher will always be experience. So get a part time job at a firm that does marketing similar to what you really want to learn. That way you can start applying what you learn and see how it works in the real world.

First. You will want to know what marketing is. Marketing is the action or business of promoting and selling products and services (as taken from wikipedia). Think of that concept as the top of a pyramid. In the next level of the pyramid you have online and offline marketing. Only you can decide which type of marketing is good for your product or service. Under the online marketing side you have the options of promoting your product via the web through social media networking, website networking, forums, blogs, ect. Offline you have the options of printed classified ads, radio/tv slots, billboards, and the like. Once you have decided which type of marketing you are going to pursue for your product, then you can find ever-expanding ways of promoting via that avenue. You will find excessive resources and information online about online and offline marketing. I'm not sure really why people purchase marketing books when everything you need to know is online. And when that information changes your book is outdated anyway, however information online "should" be constantly updated and evolving. Google is your friend. You can search nearly any topic and find direct information on that topic. Goodluck on your endeavors :)
