Yes .COM is in fact King. And yes of course you can get other tld's to go higher in the serps if you are trying harder then the guy with the .com But, for Brandabilty and domain value .COM will Always be King! And like I said, buy all of the top tld's with your name. I have several websites and with all of them I make sure I own all the top US tld's and some others like .de because .de is Hot right now and they all point to the .com. Only those who cant afford good SEO and advertising may have to rely on Keyword domains. Otherwise just build your brand with your brand name. Think about it. Had Mark Zuckerberg been worried about a keyword domain back in Jan 2004 when he was sitting in his dorm room he would have maybe bought SocialNetworkBook.com instead of TheFaceBook.com Or if Bob Parson's had started with DomainDaddy instead of Godaddy, but these guys weren't worried about keyword domains and they both did alright Its all about Branding!
You will never know the opportunities you missed looking for medicore.com instead of Diamonds.net I wish you the best on your difficult journey
Diamonds.net is a good one, I'll give you that. But it still ranks with keyword Diamonds on Google behind all of these, https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=diamonds&num=50 debeers.com helzberg.com bluenile.com zales.com diamonds.com tiffany.com jamesallen.com jared.com kay.com diamond.com shaneco.com jewelryexchange.com heartsonfire.com harrywinston.com overstock.com thediamondbuyingguide.com amazon.com
I forgot to say that just because the .com you are looking at may be listed for $5000 that doesn't mean you cant pick it up for much less. The so called Premium price is usually an inflated price. If its at Sedo.com then make a low ball offer and start from there. If its not listed there then contact them through the Whois and make your offer. I bet you can pick it up for $1000 - $2500 Start with a $500 offer. I just sold a domain at Sedo. He offered me $100 at first, I countered with $3500 we met almost in the middle at $1500 And that was about the price I really wanted, $1500 to $2000 Good luck
It's all good guys. I found a really good .COM name that fits perfectly and was in my price range. Now I just need to buy all the other extensions. By the way if anyone would like to sponsor the site please PM me.
In this case. I would suggest you go with .net or .org 1st. Until you find out that your website traffic is growing to certain level , then you only spend that money to buy the .com domain as well to point it and park it . If you just a starter, $50000 maybe too much for a domain name unless it direct help you to earn back that much with the domain name.
I am little confused. Why to pay huge amount like this to buy only a domain name these days? Most of internet users buy domain names and becomes fails. I didn't say everyone fails but I am not sure to purchase only a domain of this amount, while you will need money for different projects after purchasing domain name like site building, Logos, Seo etc. I preferred .com but with a different name which is available in regular price.
4chan.org is one of the top 10 most popular web on the internet today and as killed many .coms You guys needs to realize that gTLDs such as .net .org .biz .xxx works like .coms as globals. Avoid ccTLDs if your targeting the global audience.
I was reminded of the domain name ignitionmagazine dot com, which was recommended to me by a veteran 2yrs ago, well, no luck, I am not in this industry at all LOL
.org .com .net or .info as long as the site is good with high traffic and the earning is good...no problem...
Well, you've already decieded to use .com. That's your choice, but I think that .org was more than enough for an online magazine. I know a lot of local and even statewide online magazines with .org. This even brings you much independence, 'cause you don't need to pay for .org so much money.
