Does the number of Results given for any keyword showed by Google - matter in ranking your website? Or do you study the sites ranking first in Google, regardless of whether those results number is big or not? Best, David
Yes these number of results in google matter a lot. With the help of them you will have an idea that how competitive this keyword is.
To an extent is disagree. The number of sites doesn't necessarily tell you anything about how difficult it will be to rank well. It tells you the amount of competition you have but not the quality of competition you have. You need to look specifically into some of the other sites to determine the difficulty of the keywords you are after.
Actually I have a kword results in Google: around 1 900 000 competing for the kword phrase.. but when I look closer at the sites ranking first, 2nd, 3rd...ect. it shows no authority sites... just simple Blogs with few pages and even an ezine article ranking there. Note this kWord phrase recieves about: 22 000 USA Monthly Search according to Google Keyword tool !!
I always check out the number of searches in Google to get an idea about the competition in a particular key word. More precisely what I look is the number of searches by putting the keyword in quotes, the number of searches without quotes and the number of allintitle searches. Keywords with an extremely high number of searches have a big competition and it is really hard to get a good rank by using them. I hope that helps you.
