I don't think adsense is as effective as it once was, but if you have the right traffic/subject combo you can make a lot of money. A few years ago a teenager was making $147,000 a MONTH off whateverlife.com - she was in the news a few times. you can look it up on google.

 

Yes it is possible but you need to work hard. The advantage of adsense is that you don't need to write compelling articles to make money, you just need to give info. A mistake a made was to spend too much time on one website. Setup your website, start with 12 articles distributed over 6 weeks, do some light backlinking like social bookmarks and high PR or edu backlinks during that month. Then wait 30 days and analyze the results. Start working on another website, don't wait until the first one has ranked because that usually takes 1-2 months at least, so checking your stats daily will do you no good. Just my 2 cents.

$1000 per month is not "rich". What i can tell you is that there are many member here are earning more than $1000 per month

If you work extremely hard and pick the right niche, you could POSSIBLY quit your day job, but it's very hard to achieve success like that. I currently make around $850/month with Adsense ($1,500 or so including other ad revenue streams)

 

I was a witness when the site brought much more revenue only through Adsense. But are you would satisfed, if you spend about 5 hours to work with your site every day? Real earnings - even a little, passive income. But I have not seen sites, that earning on Adsense serious amount, with passive income.

 

What amount do you consider serous passive income? At some point I think
once you get to a certain amount it may no longer become as passive as we
would like to think.

 

I have just started making money with Adsense. I don't just think, I know it's a viable business model. I think but haven't yet proved that it can be scaled up to a very good money making stream. I'm actually working on a product right now that shows how to do this.

It can but most people usually don't get rich because they give up early. In the beginning you make very little that is one of the reasons. Rarely do people make huge amounts in the beginning.

Use Adsense and Chitika on your site, they can pay you money as much as you want, but your site must have unique contents, SEO regularly, have backlinks. then you can get more then your desired money.

It is not hard to earn 1000$ a month, but need time and hard work.
