Guys, I dont really know if this question should come here, but this is the place where most people are, so let me ask. I currently have a few blogs with blogger.com, 2 in particular are doing really good, or should I say, simply Ok. I started with adsense a month ago and I have surpass the 100 dollars mark a week ago. My question is this: How will having a domain help my blog/site be more popular or better? Will having my own domain, lets say www. yyyyy.com instead of www .yyyyy.blogspot.com make it easier to increase traffic? I just want to know your thoughts on this issue. Thanks a lot guys.

if your blog is popular it will be easier for people to return to it by just typing the domain name thus increasing the returning visitors count

Godaddy.com is 9.99 for domain registering and 3.99/month hosting. Pretty cheap. But the service is lousy and you need to be able to handle your own business, as it were, because their support is absolutely horrendous. I have been experimenting with various hosts, and I found Ixwebhosting to be pretty good so far.

domain gives brand visibility. Try dreamhost. They are one the best (in terms of economical price and abundant features).

It's always best to get a fresh domain and start building it. You can re-direct all your blogspot traffic over to your domain. You don't want to give some third-party (blogger, etc) too much control over your site.
