    Why does 380,000 / .6 = 633,333.333? And why won't that work with money?

    1. Because 380'000 * 1.666666666 = 633,333.333. 2. Because you do something wrong in your calculations..? Sorry dude, but if there really is a problem, then you should provide more information.

    For the same reason 38/.6 = 63.333!

    It works with all math, including money math.

    Yeah... math is totally weird. I'm still amazed that 1+1=2. It's just mind boggling.

    Ok. I'll try and explain to you guys what I learned in my third grade math class. And to make it easier for you simpletons, let's make the problem 10 / 0.5 but it's the exact same thing.

    If you divide 10 things in half, how many things do you have? I'll give you the answer: 20! Now, if you divide 380,000 things by 0.6 how many things do you have left? (holding my breath)

    The problem with that ingenious revelation is that in reality, dividing 10 things in half gives you 20 halves -- not 20 wholes. In math, however, which apparently disregards reality, dividing 10 things in half gives you 20 wholes!!

    Have you turned blue yet? :rolleyes:

    Except you aren't diving 10 things in half, you are dividing 10 things by half of a whole.

    10 / 2 = 10 divided into two equal parts.

    10 / 0.5 = 10 divided by half of 1 whole.

    OMG, nevermind. The question is the result of arguing with a teenager, who apparently has an evil way of screwing with my mind. And now I'm frightened.

    I mean, if he can make me forget how basic division works...

    :eek:

    <grrr>

    380,000/0.6 = 380,000/(6/10)) = 380,000 x 10/6 = 633,333.333
    that's how the maths works :)
