    Hi guys,

I'm ranking in Google, third place in the organic search, for my main keyword phrase - the phrase is receiving 1600 global searches, monthly, acconrding to Google Keyword tool. But the problem is I just receive 3, or 2 visits to my blog site!! I used Google Analytics to track my visits. Any help pleaze? Any idea?

    Best,
    David

Clear the cookies and search for the position of your keyword again, or let some of your friends do it because Google is recognizing your searches and keep it at the top of the page, since you've been trying to rank for that keyword you've checked it a lot on Google, maybe that's why you have the 3rd spot... just saying.

By "Expression", I assume you mean "Phrase". A phrase match just means that 1600 searches are made which contain the phrase (words in order with others added before and/or after). Only 1600 searches on a phrase match is a very low number. 1600 would even be a bit low for an exact if you were building a site around it. There are lots and lots of possibilities for a phrase match and the phrase match number provides no realistic estimate at the amount of traffic you should expect. The [Exact] is what you should be looking at because that represents the number of people who type in your exact set of words as their search.

dear you can search your keyword in private browser, so then your search result would be clear to you. mostly the google shows the sites that you open mostly, so if you clear ur cookies and search in private browser then it may be clear to you.
one another thing to remember that this search criteria would changed country to country, if one site is on top in a country, it may be possible that site is not even on first page in another country...

Look in Google Adwords Keyword tool for the number of EXACT searches for your keyword. Make also sure that you set the correct target market (e.g., US, UK, Australia) and language, in case you do not target the whole world. That will you provide with the exact number of searches.

Then follow the advice given above to flush your history and cookies (and make sure that you are not logged in to Google) - Only THEN search for your keyword, but making sure it is an EXACT search, e.g: "my keyword"

Once you do this, perform the following calculation:

#1 ranking: multiply searches by 0.6
#2 ranking: multiply searches by 0.4
#3 ranking: multiply searches by 0.3
#4 ranking: multiply searches by 0.2
#5 ranking: multiply searches by 0.1

That should give you an approximate idea of how many searches you can expect. If the number does not match, send me a PM with a keyword and the domain URL, and I'll have a look.

This is a good reason why it is always important to look at the exact match figures. A lot of people get burnt by looking at the broad or phrase match figures and then wonder why their site doesn't bring in much traffic.

This is the classic case of not knowing how to do proper Keyword Research. So many people just jump on a keyword/domain without researching the search traffic. If they know how to find their way to the Google keyword tool, some don't know to use EXACT matches and only use BROAD.

If I was you I would scrap that site asap. Don't waste anymore time or money on it.

1600 is shit anyway... fck I get like 10 million a month or more (impressions) - I only see about 150k visitors per month. We all make mistakes, learn from this and make the correction... or do what most do and keep trying the same mistakes and blame someone else...

Ranking 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc doesn't mean that people must have to visit your site. If your site has good content than others and listed in 10th or 20th, you might even get more visitor than your competitors.

That may be true if you have a video listing with a thumb, or appear on the first page with an image (search) result.

How on earth can I scrap it after making my first affiliate clickbank sale from it?!! I think I can go on with the "EXPRESSION" searches plus I'll add the [EXACT] searches for my upcoming blog sites :)

I target 100s and 1000s of key words, every post I do - I aim to get number one, and yes I have heaps of 1s,2s,3s and top 10 spots in Google... I don't choose generic search terms, I choose long tailed specific to my niches... it's all about keyword research and the celebrity niche that I am in - fluctuates heaps and you have to watch trends and insights for search for long tail search terms.

Doing that helps but it's not the only reason.

For some searches the #1 organic result can be situated at the bottom of the page, just above the fold.

The Google keyword tool is always a good indicator. But, if you are going to spend A LOT of time promoting something, here is a sure-fired strategy that will get you a look at the true numbers. Advertise with AdWords and pay enough to be at the bottom of page 1. Just do it for a day or two. Nobody, or very few, will click on your ad because it is at the bottom o the page, but you will see the "exact" amount of times that that term is searched for.
