If PressTV broke any laws, I will say that they should not have. Laws should not be broken, whether you are in the UK, USA or Indonesia. But I think it has nothing to do with breaking the law, the elite simply don't like some of the things they broadcast, this of-course is not a good enough reason to take Press TV off the air. I do think Russia Today and AlJazeera will be next.

Oh no! Hey, you don't think Iran is going to get upset about this do you? Maybe they plan to take away MI6's right to broadcast "news" inside Iran?

Seriously, giving a broadcast license to a "news" outlet officially operated by a state sponsor of terror was stupid in the first place. Next you'll be saying they should give Al Queda a license.

I'll say that if he doesn't. There's two sides to every story and we know our side doesn't believe in facts. If there is such an organisation I would like to hear what they have to say, without beheadings during the commercials.

Let us not have any of that "Free Press" stuff anymore.

Bloody freedom of speech never worked, it's just a pain in the arse for governments all over the world.

MI6 doesn't broadcast in Iran? LOL

MI6 is hard at work to promote revolution in Iran using TV channels, BBC Persian is one of those channels. This anchor made a fool out of himself when he made it seem Iranians took the streets to protest against the government:

You don't actively promote freedom of speech and at the same time censor people, its hypocrisy.

    And Al-Qaeda = Al-CIA

So if putting up obviously disprovable nonsense as fact makes a fool out of someone, should the readers of this thread take your statement above as an admission you are a fool? Not sure how many other ways there are to read that one.

The Iranian government(PressTV) is free to say whatever it wants. The UK doesn't have to grant them a license to broadcast any more than the US has to grant the KKK a broadcast license. The internet should do just fine.

Funny how when it is written that Iran MIGHT censor the internet (and isn't that full of rubbish) everyone jumps on their back and call them an evil oppressive regime denying their citizens their right to knowledge. When warlord David Cameron bans Iranian TV he apparently is saving his serfs from abominable propaganda.

PressTV. I remember them, because they wrote this article that was the worst propaganda. It was all a big blatant lie. I kept trying to post the facts in the comments, but they were censoring every one of my comments. I gave up. Anyway, the Iranian regime completely owns the media in Iran. They aren't allowed to say anything outside of the narrow government spin, at risk of imprisonment or worse.

Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. On one stage I had cable TV installed and came across this station and man it was just rubbish. The stories were just so unbalanced that I fired up the broadband and did some googling. I forget the name of the shows - something like "hanritty" "oreally". Anyway I went to the websites and emailed my own personal opinions (not very complementary) and you know what? They absolutely refused to publish them.

Not sure whether they were government owned but boy oh boy it was the worsest propaganda I have ever seen.
