    Numnuts,

No reason to serve DMCA on a site thats sole purpose is 100% illegal....

and i do not understand your google rant! They did kill piracy! so what liberty did they kill?

I think the govt should take everything mega owns, and put the owners in jail....

Take their $175m in profilts, take their fancy house, take their fancy cars, take everything.

in the end crime does not pay....

It seems like they are sending a clear message.

The US govt can do whatever they want; They have unlimited resources from taxpayers...

    Do you?

I am concerned about the rich and powerful taking over the internet for their own purposes...

Such as those that compete with other websites on the internet. The rich and powerful want to

do away with their competion such as Ebay, Craigslist, and that is what the Piracy Act bill is about, they

want to target not only pirate sites, but they want to target any website and without due process....

I think its fine to target Pirate sites...aka Megaupload.com why? Because Megaupload was 100% illegal.
The only purpose that I can think of for a file sharing site is for piracy, as there is no legit reason to have a file sharing site.

I say target piracy; leave everyone else alone, and everyone should have their day in court regardless.

and I do not think you can really compare Mega vs YouTube...They are at best different animals, since
YouTube is not 100% illegal like MegaUpload, and YouTube does not do file sharing like games/movies, etc...
but I do think YouTube should clean up their act, they have been letting their TOS slide as far as copyright
violations are concerned, otherwise they could be a target of the FBI or the Rich and Powerful that
would not shed a tear to see them go....Your favi website could be next on the list....

Just that a more practical, convenient and faster means of "resolution" is desired. The indictment indicated MegaUpload's been looked into since 2010, then arrests
    and seizures made just recently.

Not surprised, not even a little.
I also don't see a risk to most file sharing sites..

Yes nearly all filesharing sites are used for piracy... but how many links to you see for pirated content on
mediafire for example? Very few if any... They keep on that shit..

Now megaupload and rapidshare,.... uh? I don't think I've ever seen a legit link on those sites..
They meant to use piracy and only removed reported files, if there was no report... they left it up and made money off it.

Nah there's been others... Limewire... TPB... this stuff isn't new... It's just terrible timing on the Fed's behalf and coinciding with SOPA - is a big mistake.

The police and Fed's etc. may be able to uphold the law to some extent in the real world - but Geeks, nerds, hackers, Anon' - rule the online world & there's a large gathering of experts ready to wreak havoc online... this is gonna be one hell of a year.

The feds need to stop playing games.

They need to take down any illegal website that produces a good income like they did with
MegaUpload which made $175million...now that is a site worth taking down....

The feds should take down any large file sharing website, as there are no legit
reasons to be filesharing; filesharing is for dealing in warez, nothing more.

and the feds need to go after any major pirate movie sites, domestic, foreign or off-planet...
(there is no where that the US Govt can not reach to pull your balls off)

There would be no need for this Piracy / Freedom Removal Act if the feds did their jobs to begin with.
We do not need new acts/laws that do nothing more then strip your freedom of speech, and due process.

Take down the illegal pirate sites, and leave everyone else alone.

Why do you think Hotfile is still going even though they ban anyone that uploads copyrighted stuff, errr maybe coz not everyone uploads copyrighted stuff!!

LoL @ the idiots taking the piss out of the uploaders - I wouldn't like to be in your shoes in the coming weeks. Specially if a certain group sees your posts... maybe you get away with paying out on file uploaders here - but I wouldn't go flipping your gums to often... just saying. I say fuck the government and support the anon' movement that is in progress.

It really does not matter what everyone else does...

What matters is if I go to a file sharing site; then I can find some type of warez.

There is no legit reason why file sharing sites should exist....

Because your swapping doc files that you could do in email?

    Get real....

99% of file sharing sites contain 99.9% warez

I am not as stupid as you think....

What I am saying is; I would rather sacrifice some warez sites rather then give up the internet to the
govt because the govt does not do a good job in taking down warez sites to start with; one here, one there.

and so what you are pissed off to see the warez go; I would rather see the internet FREE!

And if size is a problem use dropbox or something similar.

The pay per upload is the real inducement

Yeah because a couple hundred thousand sites - didn't just loose content from their sites did they... it effects a large audience and punishes everybody who ever relied on megavideo & megaupload for their site content... the dribble on effect is enormous and hard for the general public to grasp...

    View attachment 71730

Look what's on these sites now - it's disgusting... notice the "FBI Anti-Piracy Warning" - that's a fkn threat to every other site owner that distributes files...

If at all these guys want to ban some thing it should be those pay per download file sites, they are filled up with more amount of pirated material than the free sharing ones.
Anyways its end of an MU era, wonder who's next.

Great news!!! All file-sharing sites should be shut down in a similar way. They infringe on copyrights and distribute pirated copies of stuff.

What makes you think you're entitled to free ebooks and music? Go to Amazon and buy if you want something!

LOL, "car collection" - that's about as uncool as it gets :) sooo predictable and boring! I bet his "collection of stupid oversized golden chains" got seized as well!

Actually I wouldn't bet a dime on any other website goign down soon like MU. Anonymous have sent a warning and I believe it was just a little yellow warning. Out there they are many peeps who can actually damage the whole system with DDOS attack, you don' teven need to be a genious to do one, a couple of seaches on Google and you are done
