Value of a Meta Description

    While i realize that a good meta description will help the CTR.
    do i need to pack it with variations of keywords for the search engines ?
    or is one basic keyword phrase enough to give viewers a good idea of what the sites about?
    from what i gathered, it has no effect on SEO ranking.

    Metas are used to describe what your content is all about, and what are is main targets (keywords).
    Though most people these days do not regard or value meta descriptions anymore, it is still useful in some sort of marketing strategies especially in search results.

    once upon a time they were very useful but nowadays not so much :)
    but having them is your extra benefit. and i think starting with the main keyword and trying to keep the most important keywords in the description is important.
