Before this thread turns into a personalize mud slinging match, more than it already has, I would like to comment that these soldiers - marines, were trained to the highest degree to hold the honor of the country.
This is not how you hold the honor of your country.
The video is not only a PR disaster, it will make it's way to Taliban's recruitment material. It will fuel the minds and hatred of misguided youths. It is not good for anyone.

Taliban issued a press release that this incident will not affect the negotiation process between USA and Taliban. Wonder what happened to the famous quote that US govt will not negotiate with terrorists.

From what I understand it was taped more or less as a "war trophy".It was for their personal use, somehow it leaked out....wasn't supposed to have happened.

"Have A great day buddy" said one of the 4 marines. Referring to the dead bodies.

Geneva Convention, which calls for the dead to be "honorably interred" and graves to be "respected,"

That's probably right. But I haven't read anything about the individual that actually filmed and posted this to the Internet. You can see the Marines directly involved in the act didn't videotape it. I don't know why it would be so awesome to have video footage of someone urinating on a few dead people. I also don't understand the media outrage. As a Marine, you're put in a position where people are trying to kill you. And, you're expected to kill others. But, once they take their last breath, then show some fake respect for them? I don't understand it. Oh well. I'm half asleep. Night!

    It's called respect for humanity
No one will kill any marine if they US don't go and interfere in others land.
    ????
Let's put it this way, what would happen if Talibans have picture of their dic*s on marines mouth and published all over the net what would the US do ?

In 1966 American Lieutenant Calley ordered his marine squad to open fire on a huge pit in the then South Vietnam where civilian non-combatants, mostly women and children were herded into killing all of them. The US said it was an isolated incident caused by stress of war but the world didn't just blame Calley and his soldiers for combat fatigue but the entire American nation for going to war in Vietnam..

    That's a good point.

Around 1911 while fighting in the Philippines, General Pershing was said to have killed Muslim terrorists and had other Muslims watch as the dead were buried along with pig entrails. Prevented the dead Muslims from going to heaven. Told the other Muslims to leave who then reported what they had saw.

Human urine is also unclean and will prevent dead Muslims from getting their virgins. I wonder if this is a stunt pulled by Obama?

A November 1966 incident in which an officer in the Army's Fourth Infantry Division, cut an ear from a Vietnamese corpse and placed to the radio antenna of a jeep as an ornament. The officer who did the atrocity was given a non-judicial punishment and a letter of reprimand.

Democrats being in power, they probably would have pulled out the force from Afghanistan. Remember Somalia?

Democrats being in power, Obama would apologize to the world for the U.S. inventing the Internet and digital cameras, and then he would have pulled U.S. forces out of Afghanistan.

For once, I found someone rational in this section. There are few people here (shall not be named) are quite defensive when someone critisizing the U.S and start spinning their stories & words. Some have problem with Muslims/Islam (Islamophobia) which I doubt they have any Muslim friends or ever been to Muslim country. To them, Islam/Muslims are all about evil and violence although in reality if you ask people who lives in Muslim country, you'll hear a different story about them. Geez, there are 1.57 billion Muslims on this planet, if they're that evil, I doubt most of us still alive today because they'll be blowing up every second.

This is what you initially said.

To which they responded with this. ^^^

To which, actually, he did make a valid point to which you completely ignored. Then you bashed him for making it and never actually addressed the point he was making.

You stated that killing is a part of war but that urinating is not, implying that anything other than just the killing is wrong both morally and ethically. Then he went on to point out that this is far less than what they have been doing to American soldiers by burning, dragging, and beheading the bodies and putting them on display. At no point are you condemning their actions. That was the point. It was intelligent and you failed to respond in kind, but decided to berate him, saying he supports police brutality and the urination.

He never actually said he supported those acts, just pointing out that what they have done is much worse since you keep attacking America likes it's some morally bankrupt cesspool, yet the Middle East and the Taliban are completely classy.

I would like you to actually respond to the points made here by both Drhowarddrfine and myself rather than now attacking me as a person. If you can do that, then you won't get derided as you do.

These are not Taliban fighters, they are killed civilians being urinated on. No surprise here, this is consistent with American values.

There are somethings that are self evident and needs no explanation. These self evident values such as not torturing prisoners of wars, not killing defenseless civilians, respecting the dead body of combatant are also have legal support both in international law and code of conduct of most civilized armies. There is also the fact that two wrongs doesn´t make it right. If two combating armies commit war crimes, it doesn´t mean that now we are even so let´s forget about it. It means both armies should be punished for their crime. There is also a big difference between what a modern army does and what a bunch of illiterate village people do. In my opinion the code of conduct for a modern army should be much higher than the other one and not vice versa.

I can't understand how or why anyone would rationalize it. It's simply not right. They're coming home soon, you gotta live with that. Likely they'll suicide like many other returned soldiers do once they realize how being over there affected them.

One violent sex crime was committed by a soldier every six hours and 40 minutes in 2011, the Army said, serving as the main driver for an overall increase in violent felony crimes.

Reported violent sex crimes increased by 90 per cent over the five-year period from 2006 to 2011.

US soldiers committing more sex crimes
