Need a big list of directories

A couple of years ago I came across a huge list of free directories on here. I mean this list had thousands of directories. I more then likely still have it on the computer somewhere but sofar I have been unable to find it. I have started a new website and am looking to start the directory submission phase. I do not have any money to invest in this so I am looking for a list of free directories. I am sure there are going to be some people out there that say you get what you pay for and that I should go with paid directories but that just is not an option for me right now. If I was going to pay for anything it would be advertising and I do not even have money for that either. Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me in this matter.

This is a great thread to start every now and then. Everyone can use a free directory list at some point and the more submissions you can establish then the better chance you have of being successful with objectives.

 

Thank you everyone for your replies so far. When I was submitting for my old site I was getting a very poor return for my work. So in other words I think I got listed in maybe 2 out of every 10 submissions....if I was lucky. I know someone out there will ask if I was using a program to submit and the answer is no. I was submitting to at least 25 sites per day every day and it was all filled out by hand. Well the replies so far seem like a very good start. The only thing I do not like is trying to figure out a different description for the site for every 25 submissions or so, that gets really old really fast.

On a side note. I know what kind of work is involved in submitting these all by hand. So I really do not trust people who say stuff like "I will submit your site to 100 sites by hand for only $10. I do not care how fast you type, that is just not worth it.

A STICKY THREAD has been created at the top of this forum, to prevent this type of thread by answering a tonne of questions for people. All anyone needs to do is read that before posting.

If it weren't already completely ridiculous, because people didn't see the words directory list in that thread title they assumed it was about something else, so a second STICKY THREAD was created at the top of this forum with the title DIRECTORY LISTS that specifically relates to directory lists.

Anyone that reads that will then read the rule that states quite simply

Given that you didn't bother reading the forum threads here before posting, I gather that you also didn't bother reading directory submission guidelines prior to submission.

The reason you are getting a poor return on your work is because the information you are using in your submission doesn't meet directory guidelines. I don't even need to see it, to know that is a fact.

 

There are a lot of directories and directory list pages. I usually uses vmoptions and directorycritic. They provide detailed directory lists with added date and niche.

 

It is not a matter of luck.Directories are made to list websites. It may just be a matter of time and usually, you will find the information of how much time it may take for the review, on the submission page.I own a link directory (actually two, but the second one is a directory of directories ) and i can say that operating a general link directory is not as easy as it may look like. I get a few hundreds of submission/day to my general link directory and i do my best to add as many sites as possible but i have to manually check each of them to make sure that are quality websites. Anyway, to get listed in a link directory, first take a minute and read the submission guidelines.Then make sure you submit quality websites to the right categories and write a good description for your sites, without using just keywords in it. If you do this then i really dont see any reason why your sites wouldnt be accepted by a directory.

 

I bought a premium submission directory, it is nice but I am unsatisfied to use it. It is better you manual to do submit your web to submission directory, there are many of them pay between 5 or more , you can select one of them, in fact it can make my website to become more get traffic so my website have a good page rank ( pr 5 )

 

For directory submission you just collect directory sites form different sites by using alexa dot com site. For example
step1 visit alexa.com
step2 submit any website which have high pr
step3 select links of that site
collect directory sites form that sites
it is most useful way to collect the directory sites.
