Hi all, I recently contacted a website about giving them suggestions or ideas for improvement. They responded by saying they would appreciate the suggestions and would compensate me for any that were used. So I sent them a bunch of ideas/suggestions and wrote on the top that the ideas could only be used if I agreed to it. They have not responded to me in some time, if they end up using these ideas would this be grounds to sue? Thanks
Yes, you would have grounds to sue. However, the Plaintiff (that's you) rarely wins these kinds of cases. The Defendant claims they already had the idea but had not yet implemented it. Proving they used your idea is complicated and depends on many facts - how much detail did you give them, etc. Generally, you need to protect your information before you send it with agreements about how they will use your info and how much they will pay if they use it. Finally, a case like this could easily result in legal fees of $100,000 to you. I believe your best course of action is to continue to communicate with your contact and hope that they live up to their promise to compensate you.
