The people making fun of christianity are almost certainly not christians, so your example is inapplicable. Even if it were applicable, the use of racist terms does not give the offended race the right to harm or even threaten the racist's well being. Furthermore, the racists are ENTIRELY within their rights to use any derrogatory word about any race they see fit. It might not make them too popular in polite company, but free societies do not punish people for speaking, no matter how offensive you(or anyone else) may find that speech to be.

My goodness, are you serious? Can you the title of this thread? Rusell Peters not a Christian? He even defended Pamela as Virgin Mary. Let me ask you a question, who make fun of Christianity on TV? Muslims?

People get fired for using the word "niggardly".

If he's defending Pam as the Virgin Mary, doesn't it seem logical to you that he doesn't see himself as ridiculing Christians? I doubt Bin Laden saw himself as ridiculing Islam.

Depends. In the US? Anyone who can buy airtime, muslims included. There is certainly no law against it.

Cite an example to back that claim. Its pure B.S.

Secondly, the motion picture industry commonly uses the actual word "Nigger". Even on broadcast TV, the Supreme Court is currently considering a case where Fox has sued the FCC for the right to use Obscene language on broadcast TV.

In other words, people can say what they want. People can fire who they want. People can sell airtime to who they want. If some broadcaster doesn't like what you are saying, they don't have to sell you airtime, but that doesn't make the act illegal. I imagine the Democrats have a hard time selling advertising on Fox.

True but can you give any proof that there is any Muslims that buy airtime and then make fun of Jesus or Mary? Send me the link please.

Here's the link for you: Controversies about the word "niggardly"
    Check under: Broward County, Florida

    No, they can't!

I don't recall claiming there are Muslims buying US airtime to do that. I simply stated it is perfectly legal. It is actually pretty mainstream to see Christians made fun of on Comedy Central. I'm sure they have more than a few Muslims in their employ.

Perhaps what you are asking about is religious hate speech getting airtime, like it commonly does in the middle east. Again, not illegal here, but you might have a hard time getting someeone to sell you airtime, if only because there really isn't much of an audience for it. That said, the are still idiots who hold up placards at soldier's funerals saying they will burn in hell for homosexuality. Not illegal, but not popular.

LoL. Did you even bother to read the context?

Do you know the definition of the word? Obviously they didnt, which is why the investigation found their termination to be proper. Basically, a couple of uneducated white boys tried to use a legitimate word in a racially incensitive context, in which the word's proper definition would never have properly fit. If you bothered to read some of the other examples surrounding the word you would have found this gem under the University of Wisconsin:

In other words, get over your delicate sensibilties, princess.

You asked me to give you the proof about people getting fired, I gave it. But when I asked you to give any proof about Muslims making fun about Jesus and Mary, you couldn't get any. Instead you deflecting the point. What about the other examples in the Wikipedia link that I gave you. If it's ok to just say anything using the freedom of speech, why there are so many other controversies. My point here is, there is a LIMITS what you can say. I live in a multi-racial country consists of Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, etc and we don't touch or make any jokes about other religions. "Respect" is the word that you're looking for.

I'd say anyone who fires someone for using the word niggardly is a niggardly dumb individual. But that would be a price you pay for working under some uneducated and ignorant moron.

There is a difference between insulting and joking.. You can make a joke about anything including religion but you should not insult anything including niggardly dumb people.

So, if someone calling your kids/mother/siblings "ugly and stupid" and said it was a joke, it's fine for you?
