I want to start a flash games website. Advice?

I'm a beginner who has been looking into marketing for a while. I've looked into various methods of earning money on the internet, such as running a blog or posting videos. A flash games site appeals to me most.

What I already know is that it is a very saturated market, but it's easy to earn money if you have a good website. The people I'm marketing towards are kids and teens, bored office workers, people who just need something to do.

Now, I know some things about SEO, since I've lurked this forum often. I doubt I know enough to start a site at the moment.

I need some basic advice for creating a flash website. All help is appreciated.

I don't think SEO should be a factor at all, unless you micro niche the keywords for a little extra traffic. You could try Pay Per Click, and social media. Advertise new games on your SM channels, which should bring new players in. It might be kind of hard to make a lot of money, since people are getting more used to the fact of not clicking ads while they're playing a game unless it's by accident. Their mindset here is to play the game, not getting sold on something not entertaining. Now if you get game related ads, that don't look too much like ads you might be okay. If it's something you really want to do, these are all factors to consider.

I don't think I need to tell you this again, it is a saturated niche. You need to build a good site to attract the audience. You need to have unique games so that people come to your site and play the games. I recently sold one of my site (arcade) just because I don't know How to build traffic to it. It was a good old domain, gradually I lost my interest towards it. If you are really interested go ahead and build a site. Spend some money on advertising and promoting on other sites. Good luck

The content and demographic for your website seems better suited to viral marketing techniques instead. You should try creating fun interesting videos that will generate a lot of buzz among youths. Engaging in many social media platforms also helps as well.

I'll keep that in mind. Thank you.

    Thanks for the response.

I think I'd do good with web design, since I'm somewhat good at designing things and have decent art skills. I'd likely have trouble with the more tecnical side of it, like encoding/programming.

The best advice I can give is to find a way to get exclusive rights to games, and market them through social media. This niche is played out and there are thousands competing over the same keywords. Don't spin your wheels trying to rank organically.

Either develop your own games, hire someone to develop your games, or find exclusive rights to a game. That is the key.

You could find other flash game sites you would like to emulate, and see if you can get any ideas from them

    Don't.

Flash is a memory hog and slows computers to a crawl.
