Is Microsoft on the decline to nowhere? I mean are they a dying company? They seem to be old news despite the mask of success these days.
Hardly - They're going through a restructure. Windows 8, Windows phone and Microsoft have all been aligned to have metro UI, making their products universal. Although costing MS in the short term, Long term the future is bright.
Universally unused you mean. No one has a Windows phone and there is no Windows tablet so aligning Windows8 desktop with them could be the death knell for them.
microsoft pretty much dominates the OS market for computers, I think they'll always have that to fall back on, mostly in part due to corporate america, how many companies do you know that don't use excel? Not many
You may use pirated Windows at you home.. But in corporate environment - thats not the case - MS has a huge presence over there.
Microsoft leads in desktop systems. But the model of Windows, Word, Excel, Powerpoint is looking rather old. They have failed to lead in so many areas such as mobile, search, social media etc.
Except for mobile where they are non-existant. Except for the internet where they are third. Except for anything but the desktop where they are non-existant. But I'm sure that doesn't bother you when you make clueless statements like that.
What makes you say that they are on the decline, very few tech companies are still around after 25 years like MS.
Microsoft may not be a hit in innovation but i cant imaging word, excel, basic office stuffs to be phased out. 'ordinary' people rely on them
It was and still is one of the biggest companies in the world. They will run out of ideas eventually, alike every other company, but the question is when. I still think they have a few tricks up their sleeves still.
So a company that's on the downhill slide can still produce the "fastest selling consumer electronics device"... let's see Google, Apple or any other company top that...
Comparing a game add-on unit to web servers and phones to make a point are we? Is that all you can do? Saying MS sells a great game add-on is better than competing in the phone market where it doesn't practically exist? Apple sold more 4Gs phones their first day than Microsoft sold their latest Windows phone in three months. More Android phones are sold per day than Microsoft can sell phones in months. You think Kinect proves something where Zune did not? And if you want to now pronounce Microsoft is a hardware company, are you going to ignore the software side? It's only real products are Windows and Office and IIS yet IIS ranks 3rd in usage behind Apache and Nginx and declining in sales.
