    Hi all,
My partner is driving me crazy about this issue, please help.

We have a myspace resources site, and of course we don't have copyrights for most of the images and layouts.
    can this be a problem?

and if i write something like this on the site - "We claims no ownership or rights over images hosted on this site. All images are copyright of their respected owners" - does this have any significance?

    Thank's :)

Are you re-selling any of this material? If you are, you could be in big trouble. Even if you are not reselling something the fact that you have other people's material on your site could be problematic.

You are having a laugh right?

Yeah, of course  And no, can is not the right word. It is a problem. If criminal activity is a problem for you that is.

Yes, that makes it all fine. Just like thieves who steal a TV and put it in their house with a note on top of it that reads "not actually my TV - I stole it". So yeah, do make sure you admit to having stolen everything, that makes it easier for the relevant authorities to come bust your ass.

thx for the answers, you really helped me out here.
what we did is buy a script of resources.
and now, when we got the site ready, it suddenly dawned on us that buying the script doen not mean we bought the copyrights for the images.
so no need to be so harsh. :)

Imagine it from the other's point of view.
Say you'd spent hours working on images, content etc. and then found a site
    using your stuff.
    How would you feel?
Would you feel thankful that they used your stuff and were kind enough to write?:

It basically comes down to what you're comfortable with. Is it illegal? Yes. Will the authorities come bust your ass like TOPS30 implied? No. Copyright is a civil matter and would be handled in that manner. More than likely, the copyright owners would only ask you to remove the content, but they do have the right to seek damages.

The reality is if you're small, they won't care. If you're small but noticeable (particularly in search results) you will get requests to take down individual works by people claiming to own the copyright. If you take them down quickly, no further action will be taken, even if you're making a little money on them.
