hi, this is my second post here and i have already found this forum to be quite useful...so m trying to squeeze as much info as i can from ppl here ...so my question how do I make traffic to stay on my page for more than 5 secs...i have noticed that about 85% of all the traffic that i have been receiving on one of my particular page has a visit length of about 5 secs...i have noticed many ppl advising abt targeted traffic and I do understand its importance but i feel like i have that covered since ppl looking for my page on google do search for my particular keywords...m not sure maybe m too newbie to realize... PS: Is marketing a brand better than a product?...the page that i have made advertises some hand picked asus laptops in general...in other words, it markets the entire Asus brand instead of only one of its products..
Your landing page needs to be targeted at getting people to stay and to draw them deeper into your site. Your site needs to be visually appealing to your site visitors and provide them with something to look at so they stay. Perhaps give your visitors something to read about the Asus brand and why you offer it?
Right, look at how users are finding your website. Is your website of interest to them? My issue with bounce rate and time on site when I first got started was that I was trying to throw anyone and everyone to my website. It wasn't until I learned that I needed real targeted visitors to ever make a dime. That's why I don't really throw my website to any old service that promises to send me traffic. Out of curiosity, how are you currently marketing your website? Also, would you say your website looks informative and professional, a site that a first time user could trust what it had to say? The standards are only increasing in this category. No longer can you throw any old website together and hope that people will stay.
A good way to get people to stay longer is to add videos to your site. The longer the better but make sure that it is relevent and interesting. You can find loads of product review videos on Youtube that allow you to add the embed code to your site.
Haha I use the same trick, and photo galleries to boost page views... in this case there's probably two answers: A) Site's shit and no one wants to view anymore crap. B) He's counting the bots as visitors.
Videos are a great way to increase the time that visitors are on your site. Also, if you have lots of great contnent, they will be more inclined to poke around the site.
LOL! I rather have real traffic that stay less than 5 seconds than using autosurf. Anyway, I think the problem is either the content or probably the navigation of the site. You need to make the site interactive and engaging in order to keep them there.
thanks for the replies...I hope you dont me passing the link here, but just for reference, this is the page that i am talking abt...http://www.squidoo(dot)com/asus-laptops-2012...i think a critique might help me at this point..thank you again
I don't understand? is this the page where visitors are only staying for 5 seconds? or is this where the traffic is coming from? For the record - I visited the page & left within 5 seconds!! Fuck that - I am not going to read it... it's boring.
I agree with this. Go study up a bit on writing sales copy so you know how to lay things out and write in a way that will draw people in and keep them reading.
why don't you make your site interactive. Add some interesting videos which describes your website/services well. However, not only the videos but also some pleasant music in the background (light weight music which you can insert on to your webpages with swf embed code), few of the people who are coming to my website are only coming for the music/fun which i am providing along with the news stuff.
To make the traffic stay for a while, you need to place yourself in the mindset of a potential visitors, and try to make your ad copy to suit
Your traffic is not staying on your page. That may be results of various reasons, but most specific reason is always the designing of the website. The Thumb rule here should be - keep it simple and make it light. Moreover your first few lines of the article should be attractive to the visitors.
First impression is of course crucial... could be your content, the design, a lot of things... you can only know through testing
Make your page load faster! Write useful content! Link to other web pages. It would be nice if you could show us your website so we can help you further
The most important thing is CONTENT,Site should have interesting content so visitor stay more to read that content.
