Google Being Sarcastic To Me :(

Discussion in 'Google' started by T0PS3O, Nov 8, 2006.

I was posting a reply here on DP and wrote neglible, realizing it wasn't the correct spelling because it looked funny. As I always do in such situations, I enter the my funny variation into Google's search and retrieve the correct spelling (FYI: neglegible).

    So I went: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=neglible

I hope you can re-create what I got as the search variation suggestion:

    1-0 for Google I guess!

It's like those forum bastards who keep saying "use the search" instead of giving a direct answer :D

    I think it's "negligible." ;)

What you found was hilarious. I didn't know Google was so funny. :D

I also found out Google will correct by pronunciation too. I searched for "woold" to see what I'd get. I expected "would" (it suggests this if you use "woold" in a phrase), but it gave me "world" instead.

Completely off-topic I suppose, but was anyone else amused by the only adwords ad on that page for eBay? who picks out a misspelling of a word like that for an eBay ads?

Anyone else irritated how ads for eBay come up for 99% of the things you search for? it bugs the hell outta me for some reason.

    they're there because they work.

they don't bug me more than other ads and I get the occasional laugh out of them :) "looking for women? buy women on ebay!" etc.
