About Multisite with subdomains I installed the multisite with subdomains on one of my shared hosting but it doesn't work fine on the sub-site. I have registered my domain at the other site. I think it is the problem of wildcard and I'm not sure if I have the permission to set up it (as I use shared hosting). I'm thinking of other solution. As I only want to have a few sub-site, it's okay for me to configure everything of each site. So, I want to install multisite with subdirectories and set up subdomain redirections to such subdirectories but it seems that it's still not work...... (or I have got some wrong settings?) Could anyone sugguest me a soultion? What I want to achieve is that I want every subsite (even main site if it's possible) can have certain subdomain directing to it. i.e. People can visit subsite with sub.myname.com. Thank you!!!!
First thing is that you are over-complicating it. You can use a simple redirect if all you want to do is point a sub domain to the main URL. Second, most shared hosting is worthless for running Multisite, and of those that do, many of them don't allow subdomains, only folders. I recommend getting a dedicated server hosting account if you want to run multiple sites under one installation and use subdomains. Shared hosting will just cause you problem after problem.
have you created *.yourdomain.com and assign it in the wp mu settings? Without this you will keep getting the error. This error is not due to shared hosting. Shared hosting enough, if you don't have a large traffic.
Why aren't you contacting your hosting company? Sounds like a server settings issue. If WP is installed properly and it's not creating sites on sub domains, it's probably the host. Call them.
